What do you think about this?

Do you think these news are real?
People dying or getting hurt while praying to God.
This makes prayer look like a joke, it's kinda hard to understand why such things happen.

We aren't asked to understand why they happened. We are asked to place our faith, hope, and trust in Christ. Our goal is to exit this ball of mud where lightning strikes and people die, among other things, like car wrecks, plane crashes, wars and rumors of war.... it's a long list. Not one hair on my head will get grey trying to understand it, except to say that this isn't the Garden of Eden or Heaven. It's a mudball floating in space where bad things happen due to man's inhumanity to man, placing SELF above God, doing it MY way instead of trusting Him.... it's another long list.

Prayer is not a defence mechanism. It is communion with God. I am sure many a believer was praying as they were executed, but they were still executed. My precious Lord Jesus was talking with His Father in heaven when he was crucified. He was still crucified.

Communion with God. This is why we are instructed to "pray continually."

The reasons for events are in God's hands completely.

But somehow it's hard to understand, at least for some people.
My father also once came to me with a story of christians which were praying in a church and then a bomb was dropped on this church and all died and he couldn't understand why God would allow this.
What's so hard to understand is simply why wouldn't an allmighty God simply step in and miraculously protect his people. From a human perspective this would make sense. After all the bible also contains verses like in psalm 91 which sound like God protects us from everything.

God didn't drop bombs over London during the war; the enemy did. God did provide a way of escape. He gave peace that passed all understanding. Why is it we demand "free will" all the time, and then expect God to dictate over the evil things that may happen to us? What a chimera is man; what a contradiction...Pascal

......and if He protected us from everything, this would indeed be Heaven on earth, no one would ever get sick, there would be no national boundaries, everyone would be the same color, speak the same language, all families would stay happily together, a weapon of any type would not exist, beer would not be fattening or intoxicating (yea!), our trash wouldn't have to be hauled away ...... all without the need of a Savior. Sort of like the lie satan told Eve, huh?

But what about psalm 91?
The promises are in the bible!

Or for example the bible tells us that those which follow Jesus can drink poison and it won' hurt them. But I know a guy who went to India on a mission trip and get sick from the food there.

Personally if I had been him I would have freaked out. The bible says they can even drink poison but he couldn't even eat the food there.... Imagine you read this verse where it says the stuff with the poison and you totally rely on it that God will protect you and then you go there and get sick from the food. Would this not affect your faith? How would you deal with this? I don't know how to deal with this. If you have faith in a promise in the bible and then you're disappointed then you will not be able to have faith in a promise again because you will always be scared of being disappointed again.
