I am using the KJV. Below is a list of uses of kalupto. You will see that it is not necessarily a piece of cloth.
Read your own post again. Go over the Scriptures that you posted. The "covering" is not allegorical; it is literal. The covering does not refer to an allegorical "man," but a literal hat, veil, "head-covering" of some sort. In every verse you quoted "covering" was literal and not allegorical. It could not be spiritualized away. So why are you trying to spiritualize "covering" away in this passage instead of taking it literally, when you admit to taking it in its literal sense in your above post? You are inconsistent.

Your own example:
Matthew 8:24
24 Now, look! a great agitation arose in the sea, so that the boat was being covered by the waves; he, however, was sleeping.

What covered the boat? Water, the waves! It is used in a very literal sense.

I believe in a literal covering. Paul says what she needs on her head: exousia.
Geneva translation:
9For this cause ought the woman to have cpower on her head because of the 10angels.
9. The conclusion: women must be covered, to show by this external sign their subjection.

c. A covering which is a token of subjection.
