Romans 9:12;
"It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger."
"It was said unto her",.... To Rebecca, Genesis 25:23,
the elder shall serve the younger, or "the greater shall serve the lesser",
an Hebrew way of speaking; so Japheth is called "the great",
or, as we render it, "the elder", Genesis 10:21;
"The sense of "The elder shall serve the younger"
is quite defianantly that Esau shall be a servant to Jacob;
however, at the same time,
when Esau, the elder, is said to have been a servant to Jacob, the younger,
that is IN NO WAY to be understood in any sense of being
any kind of a Temporal Servitude
where Esau served Jacob, in that way, etc.,
"because in that sense of a Temporal Servitude
WE KNOW, Esau never was a servant to Jacob;
"AND ALSO, so far from Esau ever being a servant to Jacob, IN THAT WAY,
it was just as soon as Jacob had got the birthright and blessing,
THAT he was obliged to flee from the face and fury of Esau;
"and upon Jacob's return after many years, Jacob sent messengers to Esau
in a very submissive manner, charging them after this manner, in Genesis 32:4,
"thus shall ye shall say to my lord Esau, thy servant Jacob saith thus", etc.,
"and when Jacob found that his brother, Esau, was coming to meet him,
that was enough to threw Jacob into a panic of fear, lest Esau should;
"smite him, and the mother with the children", Genesis 32:11,
"So, Jacob EVEN prepared presents for Esau; and when Esau came to him,
Jacob bowed himself to Esau seven times,
and his wives and children bowed likewise;
"THEN, THERE IS the kind of language we observe,
by which Jacob addressed his brother Esau,
was ALWAYS that of "my lord", all the times they were together,
"Therefore, now if this Oracle WHICH STATES,
"The elder shall serve the younger,"
"WAS to be understood of Outward Temporal Servitude,
it is strange that an Outward Temporal Servitude of Esau to Jacob
has NOT been able to be seen having ANY appearance,
of any accomplishment OF IT TAKING PLACE,
in the lives of the actual individual persons of Jacob and Esau,
"AND THEN, EVEN IF, "The elder shall serve the younger,"
was ONLY INTENDED TO BE SAYING
THAT IT WAS GOING TO HAVE its Accomplishment
when Esau's OFFSPRING was to have been Serving Jacob's OFFSPRING,
"THEN, THE RESPECTIVE POSTERITIES OF THE TWO BOYS,
IN WHICH that Accomplishment of an Outward Temporal Servitude
WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN DONE
by Esau's OFFSPRING to Jacob's OFFSPRING,
SHOULD HAVE BEEN EASY FOR US TO BE ABLE TO HAVE SEEN.
"HOWEVER, indeed ANY EVIDENCE of A Completion
of THAT KIND OF an Outward Temporal Servitude
by Esau's OFFSPRING to Jacob's OFFSPRING
by their Posterity, THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE TAKEN PLACE
in this sense THAT IS strictly referring
to some kind of Outward Temporal Servitude
that we could see PERFORMED BY THEIR POSTERITY
"where Esau's OFFSPRING WAS EVER SEEN SERVING Jacob's OFFSPRING,
CAN ONLY VERY RARELY BE FOUND, THROUGHOUT THEIR ENTIRE HISTORY.
