What happened to President Bill Clinton?

He has become much more responsible as a politician. He talked tonight about how we need to fight the enemy (terrorists). He really talked about how both parties need to work together. Yes, he expected the Dem's to address their differences, but he wanted them to continue to address the terrorists & even WMD . . .

He was a smoot talker as President, but he was not as clear on fighting the enemy. Did 9-11 hurt him that deeply?

I did not hear the speech you referenced . However , maybe Clinton's friendship with the senior Bush has made him more sensible in some ways . I still think he a limelight kind of guy . He really likes the attention to be on him . He has said that he wished that 9/11 would have happened on his watch . He thought that he wasn't afforded the opportunity to display his greatness as President . I guess he thinks George Bush lucked-out !

No, forgive my skepticism, but, he's as politician as ever.
It's easy for him to talk about the need to "fight the enemy", after all, he's not the one in the hot seat. It's Bush.

It's easy to talk about the need for parties to work together. Truth is easy to say. Doing it is harder.

I think what's he's doing is playing the old "good cop, bad cop" thing. Hillary, the wife, aims to get to the White House, so she needs to toe the "party line", so to speak, and be as contrary to the Administration as she possibly can without really hurting the feelings of die-hard "pro" administrations.
Bill, on the other hand, is off the glare for now, and he can't go back to the White House as president, but he sure can as the husband of the president.
What a lovely pair they'll make.
One talking sense and moderation, guiding the other.
But, it could just be the "street boy" in me.
After all, I don't see the heart.
    God does.
I can only judge by one's "works", as James said.

My country has a woman president.
The press calls her husband, "First Gentleman".
    I think it's a ridiculous title.

Nothing has happened to Clinton - he's the same intelligent centrist he's always been. What has happened is that the Republican slime machine no longer gets any benefit from accusing him of wagging the dog (linkie) as they did when he was in power.

Why is "First Gentleman" any more ridiculous than "First Lady" as titles go?

    I wrote a very good responce - IE ate it . . .

President Clinton is sounding like an almost conservative now - he did not sound like that as President. I served under him and Gore. They gutted the military and said that there were no more threats with Russia downsizing.

Gore campaigned on reducing the Army down to around 200k troop strength . . .

President Clinton is no longer speaking like that. Not at all. Not even close.

You may call that centrist, but I do not call that liberal. Maybe centrist is part conservative and part liberal. I do not know.

But, he is not talking about pro 'gay' agendas and abortion agendas. He is talking about supporting the President of the USA in a war against terror . . .

This is the same guy that repeatedly missed Osama. This is the same President that made Osama go from a known and dangerous threat - to a very angry and upset and dangerous threat that knew we was close to getting him. This is the same President that totally missed the enemy. I know some people blamed FDR for Pearl, but President Clinton knew that Osama had already hit the WTC, had hit the embassy, had his people kill American soldiers, and countless other attrocities - and he missed him.

OK - why the about face? He sounds like he regrets not doing what was necessary to get Osama. Personally, I like the modern Pres Clinton. I did not like the one that was in office and missed Osama . . . but, I take killing 3,000 americans as an act of war . . .

Teflon Willie is relatively nice in public. In private he's delirious over Hillary being the next President. He can't wait!

There's no way you can call President Clinton "teflon willie." Wake up. The guy was impeached.

Obviously, Clinton remains concerned about terrorism. This is the guy who bombed Osama, and ran him out of Africa. The guy who started Operation Catcher's Mitt, to track Al Qaeda.

I suppose "Teflon Willie" refers to the way the impeachment process went. In the end, the GOP was holed up, stunned by the public outrage against them, and unable to keep even their own troops in line.

And a good number of republicans out front, ended up defeated the next election.

In spite of the fact that Clinton committed adultery and lied about it, he's still one of the most popular presidents in history. Some people think it's because his actions as president are more important than his personal life.

    Go figure.

Americans rank Reagan and Clinton as the best two presidents since WWII. Bush beats Nixon out for the worst.

His wife is running for president and he is running for UN Ambassador...and eventually for Annon's job. Haven't you heard?

They called him teflon willie long before he became president and got in trouble again. I think it was after the first adulterous affairs . . .

Actually he was well known as "Slick Willie" before he ever ran for President the first time.
