    What has happened to sin?

I keep finding Christians that do not believe that sin is sin.

Is there a new Bible? Were Jesus, Paul, Peter, Matthew, John, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Isaiah, and many other prophets all preached against sin.

So what happened? Did God send a re-write and forget to tell the rest of us?

It's all about "Have it your way" (burger king Theology). Nobody wants to be accountable for their actions anymore. If it feels good, do it. This is affecting Christianity big time. There is a church for everyone out there. It doesn't make them right, just religious.:tear:

Read it in Proverbs - choose 14:12 or 16:25. Move on to Luke 21:8 then stop by II Timothy 3:13 before returning to Galatians 6:7.

We can only be the watchmen Ezekial speaks of and continue to blow the trumpet.

Siin is still there---or here--whatever way you want to look at it

Its just --- well --- the god of this age has blinded the eyes of them that believe not.

The god of this age blinds us to the ugliness of sin

The god of this age blinds us to the forgiveness of the Savior

We reached the age where the crowd wants to be pleased---and we have preachers who don't mind pleasing them!

Of course, there were crowds in Jesus' day who wanted to be pleased --- they stood around gawkin' at Jesus feedin' 'um with those fishes and loaves --- and they followed Him by the masses --- but in less than three short years--those same masses punched holes in the hands of the man who handed out bread and fish like candy!! - - - but listen --- if Jesus were here today in bodily form---our innocent little sinfree society would find the first tree and nail Him there again---just like they did there on the outskirts of Jerusalem!!!

My oh my!! Wasn't it the late, great EJ Daniels who said

"Sin will take you further than you want to go!"
"Sin will cost you more than you want to pay!"

I remember the day when the word "religion" was a good thing. I remember the day when we didn't have to explain why Sunday was set apart as God's Day, and we took time to be holy.

To-day, Christians may go to church, maybe even twice, but then there is football, baseball, other sporting events.......and we have to look silly saying, It is the Lord's Day.

Shops have their best financial returns on Sundays.

I was made to sit quietly in a corner and read a book when I was young........to-day we send our children off to get them out of our hair.......

Where is sin? It is just wearing fancier clothes, and yet right there at our fingertips.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I'm in a school where we can actually talk about sin. What I find is that students & their families are very good at recognizing the sin of others, expecting others to meet some standard (which is usually theirs and not biblical necessarily) BUT they have a difficult if not impossible time in seeing sin in themselves.

    It's very disheartening.

You're absolutely right. Drive through Christianity.
    McSaveMe-"May I take your order?"

IDeserveIt-"I'll have a John 3:16 with extra health, wealth, and properity.
But, hold the Romans 6:1-2, the 1 John 1:3-6.
Give me a super sized side of 2 Timothy 3:1-5, and a jumbo 2 Timothy 4:3-4 to drink."
McSaveMe-"Would you like a hot apple hell with that?"
    IDeserveIt-"Heavens no!"
    McSaveMe-"Your order is free sir."
IDeserveIt-"It better be. Can you hurry it up? I have my same old lifestyle to get back to!"

Sadly, this has been around for centuries and is the sin Jesus addressed most frequently during his ministry.

Its been re-named - Mistakes, flaws, shortcomings, errors, challenges, deficiencies, etc, etc, etc...

PC Definition : A spiritual challenge.

James 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

I think there are a couple of issues that lead to this problem. Churches aren't teaching accountability, becuase preachers are teaching either directly or indirectly that sin doesn't matter, becuase every saved person is going to go to heaven and get their little piece of paradise even if it's a little shack in the corner.

And most folks are happy to have a little piece of paradise even in the corner if they can do what they want to know. There's just no accountability.

Then on the other end there are those that say well if you sin too much you just weren't saved in the first place.

We have perverted the simple Gospel of the grace of God and have tried to help God in the salvation arena instead of letting Scripture say what Scripture says.

And becuase of it true discipleship is next to naught these days :(

    It's just incredibly sad.

while the big issues about sin have been the same since the dawn of time, we are in a time culturally, where everything is about the individual. If I'm so special, then what I do isn't wrong. If we are left on this earth, the pendelum will swing in the opposite direction eventually, it always does. Sin will still be an issue, but everything we do will be perceived as sin. We humans seem to have a difficult time with moderation.

Oh Tim! I'm so glad to know that someone thinks something I say is deep after years of working with secondary students that snicker or moan at most of what I say . . .

HankD: You beat me to it! Sin is still here, the PC crowd has just changed the names:

A drunk is now an alcoholic and has a disease.
Dope is now an unintentional addiction.
    Adultery is now an indescretion.
Fornication is now getting to know each other.
Sodomy is now an alternative lifestyle.
Abortion is no longer murder, but is part of our 'free will'.

When we meet God, He will still call sin by it's rightful name.

Keep planting those seeds, I bet most of what you say will make more sense to them after while. I too have noticed you usually have another, more interesting message underneath the words.

I like that one; I'll word it slightly different, and try it.

Guess Paul shoud have written. "For the wages of 'spiritual challenge" is death."

"For all have 'been morally challenged' and come short of ..."

I dunno', somehow, just doesn't seem to 'have the same ring', as the more familiar wording.

Well said, J. Jump! Another good one is this one.

So well put by both. AND it's "Lordship Salvation" in a nutshell, as I know J.Jump recognizes, especially as to the 'undefined', 'unwritten', and 'un-Biblical' standards.

Amen! to both these, and "Preach on!"

I think it was Dr. Robert Schuller who said sin is a lack of self-esteem

I hear this quite often: "God has wonderful plan for your life."

But for the lost, God has a terrible plan for their lives.

When will be believers understand that we have to tell them the bad news about their sin and its consequences) before they will be ready to hear the Good News.
