What is Canada Day?

    I see that it is Canada Day, what is this day all about?

    Canada Day, once Dominion Day, the the day we celebrate the beginning of Canada as a country, going back to 1867. It began with Upper Canada, Lower Canada, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. This was the date the British North America Act united the provinces to form the Dominion of Canada.

    That is a brief explanation.

    LOL you can look at it like that. It's about the only day that many Canadians are patriotic. I had a good day...went to the Tigers baseball game tonight. Saw a great game and some fireworks. You have a great 4th of July.

    Not quite the same as Independance day, it is more like Federation day, a day where the nation became unified, Aussies have a similar holiday on Jan 26 called Australia Day, yet both Canada and Australia remain in the Commonwealth. [​IMG]
