Which KJV revision (I believe 7 major revisions and 25+ minor ones since 1611) do you use? IF there is one word or letter changed from the AV1611, the inspired and perfect Word of God for English people, then how can you use a "different" version?

What is different is not the same. So either you use the SAME inspired Bible as you claim (AV1611) or you use something different.

    I'll start:
I use the KJV1769 Oxford revision, Scofield Reference Bible. It has 5500 changes from the AV1611 so it is DEFINITELY "not the same".

I do not for an iota believe in reinspiration in 1611 nor that the AV is the only Bible for English speaking people, so I have no problem with this VERY DIFFERENT revision of the AV1611.

    Your position?

Dr. Bob, I agree with you on this. There is no ONE inspired English version. Nuances of meaning can often be gained by comparing the same passages in several versions. Plus, with changes in English since 1611, and scholarship going further back to earlier transcripts, many modern language versions come closer in meaning of the originals to readers in the 21st century.

The poetic language of the KJV has its place, and myself I am particular toward the RSV as well. However I also study from the NIV, ASV, NASB and others.

The answer I've heard from onlies is that the various versions of the KJV or TR are synonymous. Of course, the TR, MT, and CT are all basically synonymous, too. It's all a matter of percentages.

It's too bad that they will give themselves slack but not us. :(

    Aefting: " ... slack ... "

    Isn't that an ecumenical term?

in case some KJBOs don't realize there ARE real (not marijuana-induced) differences between the KJB revisions n editions, i've designed a nice little pop quiz to help them out.

n help us understand how much they r aware of (or ain't).

My position on English Bibles: ditto yours Dr. Bob.

I use the various other translations, including MVs, as (in the words of the KJV translators themselves) to find the "sense" of the Scriptures.

For a more exacting scientific approach I go to the Hebrew or Koine (Traditional Text(s)).

That would be hilarious if not so sad. Who would take time to make a "pig latin version" of the Bible?

    And the bigger question, Why?

perhaps to test out a new software! [IMG]

but really, this is not half as harmful as what KJBOs do to undercut the Scriptures n today's language--a la the snake in the garden, "Yea hathhhhhh God sssssaid?"

Well, lucky I don't have to make that choice.

I have plenty of good translations, including the NASB and the ESV, and maybe the NET.

I have to give you perserevance, although it's perseverance in error. Is that a good thing?

Dr. Cassidy corrected my estimate of "changes". These, of course, exclude the change of eliminating the noninspired books (apocrypha) that were in the AV1611 but not in any modern KJV revision:

KJVO's use the phrase "what is different is NOT the same" when condemning modern versions that are "different" from the AV1611.

This should demonstrate that the KJV (whatever revision you use) is ALSO "very different" from the AV1611.

And what is different is NOT the same!

yep, n parroteth he his buddy D.A. Waite, a well-known manipulator of statistics.

what's funny in this case is that on the one hand the changes r "SUBSTANTIAL," while on the other, they r excused as inconsequential. faced w the truth, KJBO becomes highly schizoid.
