It would take them all of a few minutes to see the term wetback used (which received support from other members) and statements that suggest that ALL (sic) black people don't want to be a part of this country which was also supported by another member.
Wetback was and is not a racial term. It is a term used by both the Mexicans and the Texans to refer to folks who cross the Rio Grande without the support of a bridge or boat.
That some want to make it a racial term is typical of the political correctness that serves to deny true identity of certain.
The same cannot be said for terms such a spade, mick, honkey, dago, jerry....
Each of those terms, as others like them, are purposed from the start as a derogatory term reflecting upon what was/is perceived as some weakness.
Just recently I heard the term "jerry rigged." The person had no idea that they were using a derogatory term.
Racial tension and confusion has been around culturally as a part of the Tower of Babel judgment by God.
When two cultures clash, there is never a time when they may co-exist peacefully. One will be dominate.
This board is not split by race, but is split by Biblical views.
That some members are concerned that a certain grouping is acting out and making the U.S. into what the concerned ones do not like, is merely an expression of the discomfort and the natural tensions as one group takes on the dominant roll from another.
This board is not church, doesn't replace church, and is not a church setting. Therefore words and ideas get thrown around here that would sometimes not be tolerated in a local assembly.
However, this board is not a free for all - anything goes - freedom of speech site. And the moderators generally do do a good job. They will even correct each other if need be.
Personally, I would applaud any who desire to fellowship and discuss/debate the Scriptures to this board - not just Baptists, but those who do hold to the doctrines of this board.
