A wall in Denia, Spain, where Christians used to be executed. It still has the holes in it.

Did you get to see the catacombs under Kiyv? They are among the most interesting things I have seen.

    Other notables

Greenland in December - talk about your black and white world.
    Pyramids in Egypt
    Most of Moscow
    Sophia, Bulgaria.
    Prague, Czech Republic.

All those places fascinated me, would love to go back to each of them and explore more.

The most interesting thing I've seen while traveling would be when I was a Baptist missionary and witnessed a decision by the SBC to forbid their missionaries to work with any other Baptist organizations in that country, but to work only with Campus Crusade for Christ. Since you asked. [IMG]

The Atomic Bomb museum in Nagasaki Japan.
The Emperor's Palace in Kyoto Japan with the "Nightengale Floor" designed to squeak at a certain pitch when you walk on it so enemy Samurai couldn't sneak up on the Emperor and kill him.
The "Golden Palace" in Kyoto Japan.
A Bonsai Tree planted near the "Golden Palace" in the early 1600's shaped to look like the Emperor's boat.
Looking down into the caldera on Mount Aso in Kumamoto Prefecture, Kyushu Japan. There are many thick concrete bunkers all around to give people a place to take shelter when the volcano "burps"
The hot springs in Beppu Japan. The signs that explain the nature of each of the hot springs all have little "devils" on them giving the explanation. The word that the Japanese use to describe "hot springs" can be translated "hell". They call them "hells"... Intresting...
The town of USA in Japan.
An "indoor" downhill skiing facility in Tokyo Japan. (It's huge)
A bridge in Frankfurt Germany that has the year 1242 engraved on it as the original date.
The Rio Negro from the shore in Manaus Brasil. It's much bigger than the Mississippi but smaller than the Amazon!
Paris France from the observation deck on the Eiffel Tower.
An abandoned castle in the Black Forest in Germany.
    Washington D.C.
The Geographical Center of the North American Continent in N. Dakota.

And here's a HI from Jackson to Dexter [IMG] BTW, I didn't go to Sikeston last week after all; they got some crews from Paducah and Cape Girardeau to do the (literal) dirty work

Maybe this doesn't count as interesting, but certainly was scary. When I was stationed in Turkey for Operation Allied Force (the war with Kosovo) I personally witnessed people collecting information on us that we believe would have been used for a terrorist attack against us if we had been there longer.

This won't be interesting to you Southerners but to a gal who had never been outside the state of Illinois, it was intriguing!

On my first trip to Florida (before they had interstates) I looked across and spied a small island not far from the highway. The dirt was red and it amazed me. I come from farm country and had never seen anything but black dirt.

When I glanced away for a minute and looked back, the dirt was moving! It wasn't dirt at all but millions of tiny red crabs! [IMG]

</font>[/QUOTE]I watched it happening. And I worked closely with the anti-terrorism people that were there with us.
