I thought this might be an interesting question since we've had a lot of racially involved discussions on here lately. I'm white.

Race: Human
Ethnicity: five kinds of white (50% Austrian, then Irish, Anglo-Saxon, Italian, Slav)

My extended family is diverse, with Asians and African-Americans represented.

I never answer government questionnaires about race. Not their business.

But...since you ain't gubmint... :D :D
I'm a Caucasian mutt.

Confession: If a pollster calls my house, I usually claim to be a 30 year-old Inuit with 12 children. I find out who the pollster's calling for, and I claim the opposite party. Fun times.

Hey, if you're gonna mess up the scientific sample, don't do it halfway... :D

White boy through and through (Welsh origin) although there is some Native American from my mother's side.

White in winter; much darker in summer, but generally classed as white anglo-saxon, whatever that entails.

I was sent to the back of the bus once and got off from the back doors.

Silly, silly.

Cheers,

Jim

Quiet opposite of rbell---Blackbird is a pedigreed Cajun from south Louisiana----makes all the difference in the world!!!:laugh::thumbs:

So, Jim do you consider yourself a WASP?
----------------------------------------------

No, because I have never been protestant! I was Anglo-Catholic originally and became a Baptist; never a protestant.

I have stung on occasion though.

Cheers,

Jim

I agree, but with different ethnicity: German, Scottish, English, French, and probably some African blood in me from sometime in the distant past.

Normally, I just answer "human" race. There are so many different "blends" down here, it really makes this question meaningless. Personally, I'm considered an anglo, but spouse (and children) are hispanic.

I believe there is only one race--human. We are of different nationalities and skin colors, but those shouldn't matter. I am of four nationalities or ethnic groups that I know about.

In that case, when anyone uses the term "racism" they are talkling only about species, not regionally/pigmentationaly classified humans. And 'racial discrimination' only means people discriminating against animals, or animals discriminating against people.

In New Zealand they are always banging on about ethnicity in applications, I find it VERY OFFENSIVE. If I am pushed I write down Homo Sapiens.:1_grouphug:

Obviously not.

But the point that many of us are making is that we all come from a single ancestor (both the scripture and the latest biological theories actually agree), so the old theories that some "lessor" races descended from animals while "white people" descended from Adam (yes, I have actually heard these theories expressed in both church and social situations) are complete rubbish.

My ethnically-diverse family is all descended from a common ancestor, so there's no reason to treat someone of a different culture or pigmentation as "other."
