What is your take on Mediums?

I don't think we can deny that these Mediums are receiving information from something for they can know things that are very personal in nature. They always claim that it is from the dead or from those who have passed over. Can this be true?

Notice how the spirit always tells the Medium that evrything is great! That it is just fine to die and pass over. We know that there is a spirit world around us, I believe they can see us and know things we have said and done. I believe that what these Mediums are allowing in are evil spirits who know personal things about those who have passed and are not the souls of people. Satan is the great deceiver and would like to deceive as many as possible, telling them that all is well no matter what one believed or how they might have lived apart from God.

What do you think? What scriptures speak on these matters that you know of?

God bless!

I personally believe a "medium" is what Moses describes in Deuteronomy 18:

De 18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

There are many other scriptures in the Old Testament that refer to thes and condemn them as Satanic in nature. The idea of "familiar" spirits I believe referes to demons who impersonate departed humans familiar to the one seeking to communicate with them through this medium.

I think both Dr. Walter and steaver have it right. I used to think psychics were faking it until I met one. We actually became friends. Once a colleague asked him about a co-worker who had disappeared from sight. This psychic gave us details that turned out to be 100% accurate. He told us the man had run into some personal problems, had butted out for a while, was holed up in a motel, had considered suicide, and would show up in ten days. Sure enough, the phone rang ten days later, and the missing co-worker came to my office. His story was exactly as the psychic had said.

The psychic claimed it was a natural gift, and everybody had it; they just needed to develop it. I believed it was not of God, just as Dr. Walter and Steaver say. But his psychic power was real.

Well, I believe there can be good spirits or angels that help those in need and can give information to another for the benefit towards Gods will, this would likely include prophecy or knowledge of an event. But these Mediums that are hearing spirits say "everyone is doing just fine and they are watching over you" are hearing evil spirits who want to deceive people into rejecting the Word of God.

Could this be part of discerning the spirits Paul spoke of?

Mediums are channelling the demonic. Others have quoted the Scriptures better than I, but I might also throw in Rev 21:8 & 22:15

Deu 18:10-12 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

A necromancer would be a medium....someone who talks to the dead. God gives his children the gift of discernment, we do not talk to the dead. That is straight from Satan, and he will use any tricks he can to steer God's children off onto a strange path. We're best to steer completely clear of these things.

Diamond Lady nailed this. Look at the very term "medium"! The prophets of God are never called a "medium." A "medium" is one through which evil spirits convey things. The angels of God do not use "mediums." Instead, God's angels deal directly with persons and do their work behind the scenes.

Are you saying that the spirits that this psychic consulted can see the future?

I find it interesting that some have befriended and listened to a medium in the first place.

I also find it odd the great interest in this nonsense, and the dabbling in what God tells us to stay away from.

Fortune tellers, necromancers and the like are all fake. They have no special abilities other than those attributed them by the gullible.

Greeting preacher,

I find it no great marvel that even christians have befriended and listened to Mediums. There are so many Christians out there that are clueless as to what the bible has to say about these things. Which brings us to your second point, we who know the truth need to understand what is going on here and preach it to those christians who are ignorant of these things found in God's Word. We must never ignore the enemy, but rather expose him.

Hi steaver,

I teach to not even consult a horoscope. Not to dabble in it at all. This is God's desire for each of us.

Yet, holiness is at an all time low.

The time must be short for His appearing.

- Peace

not all "psychics" claim to be led by a "spirit guide". With that in mind, how is a Christian supposed to tell a prophecy from "psychic insight"?

Do we reject any and all predictions of the future? Daniel didn't, John didn't. We only have these men's words for what they saw, why was it okay for them?

He did not claim to consult spirits. The subject of the missing colleague came up when he visited my work place for another purpose. In casual conversation, the question came up. Without hesitation he gave his answer.

But, he did have an interest in the occult. In fact, he was once a Baptist preacher, preparing to go to the missions field. The Mission Board turned him down when he refused to give up his interest in the occult. He left the ministry and began to use his psychic skills for a fee.

He did not claim to have a supernatural gift. He said everybody had it to some extent (sort of like mothers who know what their kids are doing even when they can't see them).

I repeat, I believe he had this gift. I do not believe it is a gift from God.

My acquaintance did not claim to be a medium. He did not talk to the dead as far as I know. Never once did he relay any message to anyone from beyond, to my knowledge. His biographer never mentioned anything like it.

I am not defending him. I think he was wrong. He was involved in something quite dangerous, in my opinion. He knew my views.

But he was also a friend and I would not shun him.

Where did he get his info? Jehovah God? Another source?

Is his "gift" Christian?

I think God sent him to you so you can preach to him the Gospel. God bless you in that endeavor.

I do not believe his gift was from God. I believe the source was demonic. He did not claim it as a gift from God. He said everybody had this ESP to some extent.

This man had left Christianity and was once a Baptist preacher, so he knew more Bible that I did. He had turned his back on it all.
