Psalms 139:16. Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.

What is your unformed substance? Is it your spirit?

I dont believe it is your spirit (anymore).

I believe it is trying to describe the fact that God sees you, knows about you even before you exist. Not sees you literaly, but because He is eternal and can see the begining and end at the same time, he knows you even though you do not exist.

I say anymore, because as a Mormon I was taught that this verse is proof that spirits live in a spirit world with God waiting for a body. And that supports their theory that we are litteraly born of a father god and mother god as spirits and are raised in that spirit world and graduate to this world.

Can you share with us which Bible you got these words from?
    Thank you.

    Psalms 139:16 (KJV1611 Edition):
Thine eyes did see my substance
    yet being vnperfect
    , and in thy booke
    all my members were written,
    which in continuance were fashioned:
when as yet there was none of them.

    'Perfect' here means 'incomplete'
    (not 'sinless').

Sure. It is the NASB 1995 edition. It is from Ellis Maxima Bible Software.
I agree that the unperfect would mean incomplete or unformed. Thanks Bro. Ed.

Not to be confused with the KJV1769 Edition:

Psalms 139:16 (The King James Version (Authorized), 1769 Edition):
Thine eyes did see my substance,
yet being unperfect; and in thy book
all my members were written, F376
    which in continuance were fashioned,
when as yet there was none of them.

    FOOTNOTES:
F376: all...: Heb. all of them

I always wondered how the term "undead" could make any sense. Maybe it's the spiritual opposite of unperfect.
