This is directed toward the non_Cals here . Do you appreciate the ministries of any Presbyterians past , or present ? You can also lump-in those who hold to the 3 Forms of Unity .

BTW , as a Calvinist I appreciate the ministries of , in no particular order , : G.Campbell Morgan , Alexander Maclaren , A.W.Tozer , Howard Marshall , and Paige Patterson among others though they are ( and for the deceased , were ) varying shades of Arninian . Yes , I hereby renounce my former belief that all Arminians are in one camp . I acknowledge that there is a gradation -- a matter of degree away from pure Calvinism .

    Rippon,
I have been a Baptist for 29 years, but my parents were Presbyterian, conservative Presbyterian, PCA denomination. We attended the First Presbyterian Church, Gulfport, MS.(destroyed last year in Katrina).

When I first became a Baptist, being very young, I did not really give much thought to the differences. As the years past, the differences became more pronounced, such as infant baptism, moderation in drinking, and form of government (elders).

Of course, that which you grow up with stays to a degree. Since this discussion started about Calvinism, I finally realized that Presbyterians are almost 100% in varying degrees in that camp. I never gave it much thought while a Presbyterian. I joke a lot about Calvin, but in my relationship to the Lord, this has gotten a lot of thought lately. Three points I completely agree with. The other two (limited attonement and irresistable grace), down deep, I know they are probably true, but am still struggling with this, but God is leading me with this every day.

Yes, I do appreciate the Presbyterian faith. My main difference with them is the infant baptism. The drinking and form of government are minor differences, as they do NOT condone drinking for the most part. I have no use for liberal Presbyterians (USA), or for that matter, liberal Baptists. PCA and SBC, with the exception of infant baptism, are closer than SBC and liberal Baptist sects. I admire James Kennedy.

My belief about communion being open could also have been influenced by how I grew up, however, there is so much difference of opinion in the Baptist faith about this, and even within individual churches, this may also come from growing as a Christian in the Baptist church.

Vernon McGee started out as Presbyterian, until the liberals became prominent. Listen more closely to his teachings, I think you'll be surprised.

John Piper, he may have Baptist on his church but I would say he is leaning more towards Reformed Presbytrian.

How about the only man to ever call Pope John "antichrist" to his face - Ian Paisley.

RC Sproul tops my list for contemporary Presbyterians. D. James Kennedy is another I like a lot. Being a Calvinist myself, I have to say I have not heard or read one I didn't like.
