How about "Hallelujah"

I like "Does Jesus Care", but it really doesnt matter to me what is sung. I know I dont want Southern Gospel at it (the twangy kind) and I dont want everyone to gawk and say "oh, she looks so natural". Cause dead folks DONT look natural!!!!

 

I want a gospel messege preached, and as for songs if I had to chose (not that I'll know or care once in Heaven!) I would like "It Is Well With My Soul," and "I'll Be Waiting At The River For You!"

I remember a long time ago, when the song, "Friends" by Michael W. Smith, was new, I had a dream it was my own funeral and that was being sung. But I am not saying I want that to happen. I have made no plans at all for my death because after it happens it won't be my affair. But I have considered making some notarized request that I want NO services of any kind. I don't have a will, and the only reason I would make one would be to make things easier on my brothers and sister. I have been the administrator of an estate without a will, and that adds a lot of legwork and paperwork.

 

I want 'em to bury me first, then go to the church and have a celebratory praise and worship time, with a clear gospel presentation.

 

Just preach a good gospel message and sing some old hymns. I'll have a great voice in gloryland so I'll sing along!

 

yup. a gospel message... and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus".

 

Since I dont plan to die before the Lord returns,I do not have to worry bout such brain twisting tasks...however if i die i know God will use it for his glory and get the salvation message out to all who attend. Amen.

Oh ok...I'll be serious...just this once Probably a couple of hours worth of Watts/Wesley hymns, finishing with Handel's Hallelujah Chorus. I suppose I better get to work on the playlist

 

I am kind of partial to Jake Hess' "Death Aint No Big Deal!"

 

"Because He Lives", by the Gaithers (1st and 3rd verses only). "Beyond the Sunset", from an old hymnal. If a good baritone singer and trumpet player is available, I would love that song from Handel's Messiah, "The Trumpet Shall Sound...". Of course, "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth" would be nice too.

Toooooo many choices! This "homegoing" service could last hours!
