The exorcist charged people money for their exorcism. He is thus in opposition to the bible when it comes to his ministry of deliverance. Jesus and the Apostles never charge people money for healing or miracles. In fact several times the Word seems to prohibit such (Matthew 10:8, Acts 3:6, Acts 8:20, Acts 20:33).

I have no problem with people pursuing a deliverance ministry for help, though. If they feel Satan is attacking them, then it should be confirmed or denied with deliverance ministry handled in a biblical way.

The "deliverence ministry" is one of the most "fake"on based activities to be involved in, as so many times they deal with things that are not supernatural, nor demonic, and can cause the bad problem to become much worse!

"The exorcist charged people money for their exorcism." As did the dispensers of indulgences in Luther's day under the authority of the RCC.

Are the exorcist and their followers Christians in your opinion?

I have a hard time believing people who put great stock in tradition over the bible are true professors of faith. The Christians are Eastern Orthodox, which to me is as bad as being in the RCC. They maybe Christians, but given their denomination I cannot be sure at first glance.

As to the thorny issue of whether a Christian can be demonically attacked. I believe we can be in an effort to make us unfruitful. Paul's thorn in the flesh who was a "messenger of Satan" is evidence for this to me. So is Jesus' temptation in the wilderness where Satan exerts supernatural control by taking Jesus from place to place to tempt him.

No doubt, though, the exorcist swindled lots of people out of their money who were not attacked by Satan and his angels.

Charismatic deliverance ministry is like that in many ways. However, I must counsel against throwing everything related to deliverance ministry out. Satan and his angels are at work, and I have found Baptist Christians tend to have a faithless skepticism about the devil and his works more than a crazy sensationalism.

But they're not Eastern Orthodox. They're a branch of the Egyptian Coptic church. Apparently exorcism is a common thing in Ethiopia: " In Ethiopia, 74% of Christians say they have experienced or witnessed the devil or evil spirits being driven out of a person ..." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/8620249.stm

I'm very sorry I screwed up. They are Oriental Orthodox. I have to do more research on them before I can comment on theology.

Also, Luther was a hero who made major mistakes later in life. I am sorry for slandering him and those like him before. Luther erred gravely when he persecuted his foes, including the Anabaptists, but before this he is a hero of the faith. I am less confident on Calvin and Zwingli, but I have a lot of research to do.

I have a problem of being impetuous and seeing things in total black and white.

Christian exorcism the scriptures ONLY were done to unsaved persons though, and much of so called deliverance ministry today seems to do that to Christians!
