I have been in Inglewood, El Cajon, and I went to Disneyland before they got all Politically Correct. That was in 78.

Kern County! Its further inland, beautiful, green rolling hills, rustic little towns.....my oh my! Try a white water rapids trip down Kern River. It is just gorgeous!

Morro Bay (central CA) is also a nice, more out of the way spot, yet still on a major highway and easy to get to.

Then if you want to try mountains and maybe get some skiing, you can try Big Bear. Its more touristy, but its got some very pretty spots, and its very nice. Its Southern CA.

Northern CA has Mt. Shasta, with one of the clearest lakes anywhere. The Sierra Nevadas are incredible, thats where you can see the world's oldest and largest trees....the California Redwoods. That whole area is chock full of places to camp and hike.

Chico has some neat areas I hear, I used to live about an hour north of there up in the mountains in a little town called Paradise. Paradise is also a very nice town to visit, and one which not many others get around to, although its got some really neat history involving '49 gold miners and the local Indian tribes.

Then there's Calico City, a ghost town somewhat near Paradise if I remember right....although I never did get to go see that.

I could go on, and maybe I'll add more tomorrow.

Now Im homesick for CA. [IMG] Its 33 degrees here in Milwaukee with almost a foot of snow on the ground........

Ok, I never got to Yosemite myself :( but its absolutely wonderful, I hear. Then there's the whale watching off the coast, Alcatraz (which is really just a big rock), and the northern beaches have more wildlife and less people....my personal preference.

    I lived there 5 years.

Malibu is beautiful. I love San Fran as well. I lived in LA.

I am still kicking myself b/c I had at least 2 chances to go to Yosemite to hike and camp. I think it was the camping part I didn't want to do--no blow dryers or indoor baths. What was I thinking?!

I'd love to go back and see the Redwood Forest.

    Cities are great:
San Francisco has Chinatown, Golden Gate, Fisherman's Warf, Seal Rock, Nob Hill.

LA has Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Chavez Ravine (Dodger Stadium), Disneyland

San Diego has a great sea front and Coronado across the bay

    Natural wonders are great:
    Yosemite is amazing
Coastal Highway (101) is worth the drive ANYWHERE in the state
    Redwood forests
    Beaches, beaches and more beaches
    Death Valley

I'm flying out to LaLaLand on Sunday (Christmas) and can hardly wait to hit Laguna Beach . .

I would like to go see Reagan's Library one day. Some other sites I would like to see would be:

Disneyland (went there as a small child but don't really remember much about it)

Yosemite National Forest would be nice.

That is really all that I can think of that would really interest me in California. Probably a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.
