What's up with Google?

Google's search engine was out of service to people in some places Monday morning, giving error messages in response to search requests.

A Google representative said the company was working to figure out what was happening. The outages seemed to be sporadic.

Apparantly, Google is being overloaded by a new strain of the MyDoom worm, at least according to AOL News.

I got a slew of emails with the MYDOOM today. They come with messages about returned emails, problems, etc... Thankfully, I'd been notified not to open any of the zip's, exe, etcs.

 

Millions of people running a defective operating system are being used to run a denial of service attack.

It looks like Google has redirected some of their urls, since they are up and running at normal speed.

If you have not updated your windows lately, go download some patches, update your virus scan files and most importantly, stop using IE and Outlook express.

 

I really like IE and Outlook Express. I tried a few others and didn't care for the look or ease of use at all.

My patches and Windows updates are automatic. My virus scan is automatic on Wed. at 6:00 p.m. since we're in church. I also scan with Housecall Virus Scan once a week since it caught a trojan Yahoo boot worm that Norton had missed. My virus definitions are updated automatically and I don't open zip or exe files. Bellsouth uses Mailguard and filters my emails too.

I had Netscape and hated it!

Opera doesn't support gmail . Just downloaded and trued it.

 

Superdave, where've you been? I haven't heard from you since about this time four years ago when I was trying to tell people that Bush would have a liberal fiscal policy and do practically nothing to stop abortion. How about coming over to the politics forum, I'd like to hear what you think of him after four years.

Maybe not, but it works on Hotmail, and many others...

Personally I keep my Emails out of my software. I prefer go to the webpages themselves.

I do the same and that is the problem with gmail and Opera - I can't use my gmail account in Opera .
