Just wondering what your favorite part of "oh brother where art thou" might be.

I like it when babyface asked Delmar,Pete and Everett if they was bad.

Delmar said:"funny you should ask that.....I..was..bad...but me and Pete just got saved"

Funniest line was when Babyface said "I hate farm animals worse than Cop'ers" and then proceded to shoot the holstein.

How many times do you watch that movie to be able to recite dialog?

I can't imagine being so entranced as to watch a movie more than a couple times . . and my memory is great, just very short.

Was "Bring out the dead" in it?

Or "There's no crying in baseball?" in it?

Or "Do this mean what I think it do?" mentioned?

If not, I've got to rent that puppy again and listen to more than the music this time!!

"They done loved him up and turned him into a horned toad!" Spoken by Delmar, who happens to be from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I also love it when he sings, "In the Jailhouse Now".
My dad loves this movie, he is 80 years old, that's why I bought him the video, the CD and a CD player. And it's one of our favorites too. :D

    Suekielyn,
What a beauiful story,I'm not quite as old as your dad but I understand where he's coming from.

Hope some of you can join me tonight at the Ryman auditorium in Nashville for what I believe will be the final performance of "down from the mountain" with all the singers and songs that were in the movie.

"oh brother let's go down.....down to the river to pray"

    God bless,Charles

    Thank you Charles!
I'll be honest here, but you can't kick me off the board, okay?
The reason my dad likes this movie so much is because it reminds him so much of his own childhood. During the Great Depression, while so many struggled, my dad's family had plenty, his daddy, my grandfather, was a bootlegger, which helped to keep his 500 acre farm running. Then you throw in Charles Floyd, "Pretty Boy Floyd", my father's cousin by marriage, and you've come very close to the movie. ;)

    Suekielyn,
Thanks for the interesting story.I quess a lot of us rednecks can relate to "oh brother".

Hey,the concert last night was unbelievable. After I got over what I could have sold my ticket for before the show,I enjoyed myself immensely.

I wonder where God was sitting,I know he wouldn't miss a show like that.Hey,the songs from oh brother were even better performed in person by the ones in the movie than in the movie itself.

"john law done burnt down the whiskey store".Boy,Tommy Johnson really did good on the show.

    God bless,Charles

My favorite line was when they were in the theater and they bring the chain gang in. Pete whispers quite loudly several times in the direction of McGill and Delmar: Do not seek the treasure!" I was rollin' on that one!

The other thing I thought was funny is when his daughters tell him: "you're not our daddy! mama said you got run over by a train!"

Oh, another thing that was hilarious is when Pete's cousin tells everyone his wife "done run o-f-t."

Actually, I think this is "Bring out your dead" and it is from Monty Python's "Holy Grail". You might want to rent this one again. Also, if you are surprised by this, you ought to hang out with my friends sometime who can recite every word of every Star Wars movie from Phantom Menace through Return of the Jedi. I just watched "oh brother" for the first time and I have to say I wan't really impressed. The music was good, but as a movie I doubt I'll watch it again. I can't say it was awful, I just didn't like it.

Time to r-u-n-n-o-f-t with this thread. Just saw the first part last night (it is free on Encore during September so will probably surf past it a few more times)

Love the music, 'cause I am a man of constant sorrow . . .
