When does a person's spirit come into being?
    At birth?
    At conception?
    Some point in eternity past?
    It has always existed?
    When?

I don't necessarily agree with the position, but this is what Wikipedia has to say:

    Main arguments for traducianism

Supporters of traducianism present arguments from the Bible such as the following:
    • Semitic Totality Concept: the Bible teaches that the body (the material aspect of man) and soul are a unity. Therefore then the body and soul of the individual must begin simultaneously.
    • Begetting includes the image and likeness of God (Genesis 5:3), but since God is spirit, this must mean the immaterial aspect of man.
    • God’s creation is finished (Genesis 2:2), thus no new souls are created directly, but are instead transmitted by natural generation just as the body is.
    • God created all things "very good" (Gen. 1:31), yet the Bible teaches that after the fall, all are sinful at birth (Job 14:1–4, 15:14, Psalm 58:3, John 3:6) and indeed from conception (Psalm 51:5). Since God would not have created something sinful, it follows that souls are not created directly but are generated.
    • Gen. 46:26 teaches that souls are already present in the loins.
Other verses said to imply traducianism are Ps. 51:5, Romans 5:12 and Hebrews 7:10 ; `When Melchizadek met Abraham, Levi was still in the body of his ancestor.`

lol........ your thread better states what we are looking for. I hope someone will come along and explain scripturally when our spirit is first brought into existence. Did larry mean that it is when we are conceived? Did our spirit exist before conception? I don't know.

Since you don't necessarily agree...what do you personally think? I've not given it much thought, to be honest. I think the answer could be beneficial to understanding a lot in regards to predestination, etc.

Psalms 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
--That is, with a sin nature I was conceived.

Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
--How do you sanctify and ordain a life that is not there?

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
--What happened with Christ? "conceived by the Holy Spirit," as we usually confess. If He didn't have the Holy Spirit then, then what did he have.

What caused Elizabeth's baby to leap in her womb? It was the Holy Spirit, that is true. But it the baby didn't have a soul, would it leap?

I don't think that any of these clearly state when the spirit comes into being. It really depends greatly upon which translation you use. If you use other than the KJV... then especially Gen 46:26 is not clearly one that proves it.

A human being's spirit begins at conception.

15-year-olds playing around with each other create new
souls. That is why you aught to keep your 15-year-olds
in check -- creating new souls is for adults, not for children.

    Ephesians 1:4
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

If we were known and chosen before conception, we must have existed, right?

    Wrong.
God knows all about us, even before we existed
    in any physical sense..

Who said anything about physical? I thought we were talking about the spirit.

    I did.
Our spirit does not exist before conception.
Our body does not exist before conception.
God knows there will be an 'Ed' spirit before conception.
God knows there will be an 'Ed' body before conception.
God knows the 'Ed' spirit will be saved in April 1952AD
in Elk City, Oklahoma (though that probably isn't very
    important in the grand scheme of things).;

Very good Ed. Now I'm waiting on scripture that tells me that our spirit does not exist before conception. That is what we have asked for. We know God is all knowing. That is without a doubt.
