What instances would you practice church discipline?

I didn't vote because the last choice confused me. The aim of Church discipline should be to restore a person to their place in the Church. I believe expulsion is a last resort and only for a person who is unreceptive to other forms of correction.

    Can we define Church discipline?

Church discipline in this poll would be removal until repentance.

Joe, this isn't a discussion for that. It is a poll for, if non repentant, which actions should be regarded as removal.

I agree on Saggy in her reasoning. Though, I'll add this caveat. Like any other pieces of ekklesia business, formal discipline is not something a pastor and/or the "deacons" carry around in thier hip pocket. It is a matter that properly is brought before the ekklesia as a whole for their vote.

N.b. I am from the ekklesia only means a local church only school of ecclesiology. Your Mileage May Vary.

    Church Discipline

Church discipline is for any member of the church for any sin that negatively impacts the name of the church or the spirit of the body. Obviously if no one knows about the sin it is not immediately harming the church publicly.

We did some first level church discipline last evening with one of our teens that got into a fight at school. Our approach was not to come down on her, but rather to build her up in the faith and instruct her as to how this can destroy her life and harm the church.

Anyway, that is my penny. If anyone has change then can post a reply later.

I thought about it and came to the conclusion that the good Lord would let me get away with this one act of getting even.

I would say any sin that brings reproach upon the name of Christ, not the name of the church...
