do you include yourself in admonitions or do you directly challenge your congregation.

In other words, do you use "we need to..." or "you need to..."?

Actually, I use "I"; and then I admonish the congregation to learn from my mistakes.

Without hesitation, I use the collective "we" in all my sermons.

    Cheers,

When I am referring to lost people--its generally "Lost folks need to be saved!" or something along that line. When I am referring to saved folks its more like "You and I!" or in Redneck/Cajun lingo "Me and you, we need to . . .!"

    Your friend,

Try to make it personal with "each one of us" used often.

But use the royal "we" most frequently. After all, if the sermon doesn't preach to me first it will ring hollow in the listener's ears.

Depends. I'm not afraid to say "we," but we need to say "you" more. Preaching must be personal and direct.

    "We," almost exclusively.

For Reformation Sunday last Sunday we used some of Calvin's liturgy, and it was a little jarring to hear all of the "you's".

Depends on the message, but mostly use us and we in general. At times it is approprate to use you and should be used. [IMG]

Try Including The Holy Spirit for all things that you do.God wants to help BUT you do have to ask. You may need 4-6 people to gether and pray.
YOU MUST BE PREPARED FOR TWO THINGS HARDWORK,AND RESULTS. This is no cop out. Its possible for the results to be so great that you are sorry you asked.

A member of the congregation came to me and said,"you feel unworthy to preach, but you are worthy!", I thought about it for a little while, and would like to have believed her, but I know myself to well. Then God spoke to me that I am not worthy," to unleash His sandel off His feet." but I am in good company. That He called me is why I preach, not that I am worthy. And even Jesus used the Baptist," to fulfill all righteousness." when He allowed even the unworthy Baptist to baptise Him. His humility never ceases to amaze me that He called a sinner such as I to preach His Word. I use "we/us" because His word speaks to me, as well as to my hearers. Blessings, WP

If you are preaching on salvation, do you say we as though you yourself need to repent and believe?

In Acts 2, we have the example of Peter saying, "You men of Israel...". He was blaming them for crucifying Christ. This is in light of Peter's sin being just as responsible.

Does anyone know what I am talking about or does it just seem like rambling?

I prefer "we" and/or "all of us" - then the action of the application is given to all.

Excellent Point! The absolute best we can have is what the Lord gave us in His Word. I love it when this is done. Makes me want to shout AMEN!

Go to Scripture and see how many times Paul used "we" and "you" in the same passage referring to the same group. The scripture writers used a mixture of the first and second pronouns, and that seems to be what we should do too (or is it you should do too) :D :D
