    Hey y'all,

I just booked our vacation for May 19-26th. My supervisor let me use her vacation club to get a nice deal on a place in Driggs, ID. First of all, please tell me I won't freeze! lol I'm a NC girl. lol I was hoping for late June but it was all booked up. I've seen pictures of this place and I could see why.

So, we're going a day after our anniversary. DH has been warned that he "owes" me a warm vacation next year--I'm pushing for a cruise lol. But we couldn't pass this up. We're both set on seeing Yellowstone and all the other scenery. DH checks the Old Faithful webcam daily. lol

So, how can I prepare myself? I know it's a few months away, but I am a planner at heart. lol
What are the must-sees besides the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone? We will be renting a car--would it be possible for us to stick our toes in Montana and maybe Utah?

Any good tour companies, such as Grayline, that would be worth our while?

Thanks y'all! (maybe this trip will help me appreciate the hot, humid summers of NC!--lol).

It's a 7-hour drive from Driggs into the scenic Montana roads. Definately drive into Alta, and take the chairlift at the Grand Targhee ski resort, and bring a mountain bike for the ride down. You won't believe the views, about 1/8 of a mile down the trail.

Craters of the Moon National Monument won't be too far, about 2 or 3 hundred miles northwest of Driggs, it's amazing.

Western Yellowstone entrances will be just a little north of you.

Enjoy your trip, but remember, I've seen the temperature drop 60 degrees in just a couple hours in Driggs, bring some warm clothes.

Gallatin National Forest is just north of Yellowstone and is definitely worth a side trip. Very beautiful country. If you have the time, Glacier National Park and the Flathead Lake area are must-sees, but they're several hours drive from NW Wyoming.

Sorry I was on a cruise and didn't see the thread.

Driggs is nice. Kinda. Would not be my first choice (on the backside of the Tetons) but is pretty. Just "out-of-the-way".

It is high elevation (so will be 65F high and could be below freezing at night; not much "could be", probably would be) so expect to wear a lined windbreaker at night. And lots of sunscreen at elevation - high uv and wind.

It is a wonderful jump up Teton Pass and down into Jackson. Check with Id/Wy road construction because I KNOW they are working the pass this year . . and that can mean long delays if blasting.

Besides Tetons and Yellowstone (must have a couple days in Yellowstone to see it) there is a possible loop you could do. Head east out of Jackson over Togwattee (toe'-gah-tee) Pass and down between the Wind River and Absaroka ranges. Gorgeous valley. And down into the Reservation.

100 miles is Lander and "Sinks Canyon". Unreal. Nice river flowing and sinks under ground. Comes up a mile later! And then just down the road is South Pass (oregon trail fame), then loop back west on the south side of the Wind River range to Pinedale and Hoback and across into Idaho a little south of Driggs.

It may be too much. You want a vacation, not drive all over creation, eh? And just Teton and Yellowstone will tax your driving time and distance.
