Where do th Teens sit?

For the most part at the church I go to...my grandparents sit on the front row (piano side) since Gramma is the piano player, and I sit with them on Sunday nights (a.m., I'm In the choir loft) The youth use rows 2, 3, and 4. The guys and girls sit together. We always liked to sit together.

 

At my home church, most of them sit together (although I didn't sit with the youth group when I was there - and a yough ). At the meeting I've been attending, people sit where they like. Some teens sit with their parents, some don't. But there's no teen section or anything.

 

In our church, the youth start out in the front, and many walk out with the young children for children's church. It is a practice that I don't like...the youth are the HOPE of our church, I miss them when they leave every week.

 

I require my own children to sit with their father or with me in the morning service (he works the PA system, so we don't often sit together). However, my in-laws sit on the same pew as we do, so they sometimes sit beside g'ma or g'pa. In the evening services, and sometimes on Wednesday nights, they are allowed to sit elsewhere so long as they behave.

I think it's important for families to sit together during church. It is a bonding thing!

 

In our church the teenagers and children sit with their families,which is soooo refreshing after being in a church formerly where they sat together alot. We sit together as a family and think that is very important.

 

The majority of our kids and teens dont have parents/family that come to church, so sitting with their family is out. Some of the couples sit in the back (hmm) but the COOLEST ones sit with me - cause I'm COOL.

PS Oh, and on Wednesday nights, we have youth Bible study at my house (parsonage across street from church) b/c our nursery isnt open on Wed. I have 2 babies, and I can do it all that way. Its great though, b/c I have freedom to cook for them (and I usually do) and they have freedom to sprawl (and they ALL do!). I love my KIDS!!!!!

 

What I've seen is that the teens primarily sit with their family members...and ocassionally one of their friends sit with them.

There's not a specific place that the teens sit...like a teen section. I know that it's encouraged that parents take responsibilty for their own children. And that the senior saints be given any seat they wish. I've seen many a teenager or college student move to offer an older person their seat. We've got a bunch of really wonderful young people at our church.

 

I don't see why it matters but most teens sit in the left balcony but I sit with my family in the back.

 

Our youth sit where they want to, and about with whom they want to. Some sit as mixed genders. Some sit with their parents. Some sit with someone else's parents. Some roam the halls. Some make phone calls in the kitchen.

On occasion, we have had some stand outside smoking.

 

Was that a joke? I'm sorry to hear that,if it is not. That's sad.

 

Well we don't have many youth at my church. But sometimes on wenesday night we kinda sit in the same area. {Mainly cause most of the youth is in one family! }
But one Sunday mornings and sunday nights I alternate between one of the girls in the youth to a lady who is kinda like my "adoptive mom."
Thankfuly in our church the youth is well behaved. {Cuase if they wern't preacher or their parents would take care of it real quick if ya know what I mean!}

There are youth in this world that smoke.

Some attend our church.

Marg, I hope the youth is not really te hope of your church. I thought our hope was to be in God.
But I do feel the same way you do about teens not caring about God. It is sad we have so many teens today whose church does not matter to them. Many of them probably get this way from their parents.

Boys and girls together. They are usually very attentive.

 

I've attended three churches since I became a believer.

When I first started attending church (I was in jr. high), all of the youth (me included) sat in the balcony and didn't really pay attention. Eventually they closed the balcony to us (probably because we were making too much noise!) and we sat in the back and didn't pay attention. I can't remember why, but all of a sudden we started sitting in the front, and started paying attention. So at that church, the youth always sat together. And that was encouraged by their parents as well.

The second church I attended (when I started college), the youth sat with their parents. I could tell that nearly all of them were growing in the faith.

At the church I am currently attending, the youth mostly sit together in the front. I've never been distracted by them, and it seems that they are very attentive. I know a few of them are very close to their parents, but they also only get to see their friends once or twice a week (because of school, work, and busy schedules), so they prefer to spend time with them praising God and listening to the Word.

I think it's great that the young people actually want to be at church. That's more than I can say for a lot of older people.

 

Our teenagers and children sit with parents or an adult family member. We do have a few that come without parents and they set with one of the other youth in the church so there is an adult seated with them. This is kind of a rule to keep them from writing notes, talk, etc. There is NO going out of the church or walking around the when church starts. I hope that we are teaching them to respect the house of God. I also think that if the teens where to all seat together in the front, as many of the church let there teens, it would be fine. ~Sheila~
