Where Do You Sing To The Lord?

In the car!

I take my favorite tapes along and sing. I love to harmonize and some of them are really easy.

I used to have a pretty good soprano until an anesthesiologist had a 'rough' time getting a tube down a few years ago. Rough isn't the half of it. She slit my throat tissues so badly they needed to be stitched (you guys want PAIN when you swallow until those suckers dissolve???), I lost about a quart of blood, the surgeon demanded another anesthesiologist and, oh yeah, she permanantly damaged my larynx. I tend to run out of voice more quickly now, and my range has been dramatically cut.

But the car doesn't care!

My youngest daughter, who sings, told me that before my voice sounded like Julie Andrews (I could live off that one for several years!), but now I'm "Mom."

When no one's in the house, or when I'm making dinner or doing dishes, and always in the car. I love singing.

 

I try at singing in the motorcar all the time. Wife rolls the windows up so others won't hear the noise.

I am not a singer. I do play the organ, however, and used to sneak into the church, even at two in the morning, pull out all the stops and have a go at the great hymns.

I have three tapes with the great Welsh Male Choirs...The Treorchy Male Choir..and play them all the time in the car. Love to hear Calon Lan...

You name it, I'll sing there!

I love to sing, and singing is something I hope I'll be able to do as a career, but if not, singing special music in church will work, too!

Praise God, and may no one hinder those that they think are not good enough!

A beautiful song indeed, but to hear it sung in Welsh - now there`s an experience

I sing to the Lord walking home to my mother`s house at dinner time, and when I`m working in the shop, when I am driving along - and when I`m up the field gathering blackberries... in fact my heart is so full of gladness and gratitude for my saviour that I can`t help singing aloud to praise Him.
Now, what anyone nearby thinks of my ...not too tuneful rendidtions I don`t know, suffice it to say that my husband sometimes turns up the radio when I`m in the bathtub and start singing.

I love to sing in the car, all by myself, or in the house if I'm alone, just me and the Lord. Those are my favorite worship times.
As much as some on here don't like the praise and worship thats my favorite worship music, and I love that song from psalm 1, can never rememebr the name, about the deer.

 

Indeed, those are beautiful lyrics! I've always heard about the fantastic singing of the Welsh. Perhaps, before Heaven, the Lord will grant me the privilege of hearing it with my own ears! Thanks for sharing those lyrics, Gwyneth!

I sing and pray in the car (no radio). I sing at work (when no one is around). I sing on campus and in the hallways (in a low voice, usually "A Mighty Fortress is Our God"). I sing on the back porch. I sing when I walk.

I sing pretty much anywhere. Shower, living room, car, desk . . .it doesn't matter. Sometimes I have to be more quiet, just based on circumstances, but no place is truly off limits.

Helen, I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to you. For some reason, the voice seems so much more personal than other instruments. I had an experience back in school, and thought I might be losing it, and I went into a shallow depression over it. Voice is probably my most used mode of expression, be it song or word. I can't imagine not having it in the same strength and quality I've lived with for the past 25 years.

Kelly -- I cried at first, but crying hurt! So I quit crying and got used to it. For the first month after that I couldn't even talk! What was kind of funny when I got my voice back again was I had to learn the muscles all over again. All the notes came out differently and I had to learn which muscle tension matched which note all over again. It really was weird!

Gwyneth -- all praise music is in tune in God's ears! Not only that, for Him it's the heart that makes the vocal quality and I bet you have a gorgeous voice in heaven!

I went to school over your way, at Llanelli, but it was many years ago. My mother was born in Swansea.

In the early years, it was not uncommon for a group of Welshmen to break out in song in the streets, and it was always a hymn. Even regular songs sound like a hymn in Wales.

When I was leaving school and heading back to England, the lads sang this song to me:

We'll keep a welcome in the hillsides
We'll keep a welcome in the vales
This land you know will still be singing
When you come home again to Wales.

This land of ours will keep a welcome
And with a love that never fails
We'll kiss away each hour of Hiraeth
When you come again to Wales.

Not a bad farewell for an Englishman.

I like to sing in the car, in my kitchen, in my bedroom, bathroom, walking down the street...whenever the spirit surfaces, and one of those songs we sing in church comes into my mind..... I sing. (although I don't sing in front of people, except my family and my church)

I sing in the car. You know the strange thing is when I sing in public no one else sings the same tune! I wander why.
