Where has all the Church Bus Ministries gone ?

I just posted on your other thread about this same topic.

 

I just dropped off our church bus at the shop for a tune-up. We now use it once a week to take people to Saturday morning youth bowling. As often as we push that it is available, folks refuse to use it, preferring to walk, drive themselves, or stay home. It's a spirit of independence that's not a good one. People pridefully refuse assistance of any sort. I have people who will take 30 minutes to climb the stairs rather than ride the chair lift! Pride, that's your answer - or at least a part of it.

I guess God is using our bus ministry in a mighty way. We only have one bus and we run for every service. We really need two, but then again we also need adults to volunteer more also.

 

Most find the costs of having a bus a problem. I am not just talking aboout the cost of a bus and the fuel. But the insurance for the bus, and the driver and also the increased liability exposure in our "lawsuit" happy society. Also many don't find them the most effective use of the limited resources that they in reaching people. I have also found that most adults won't ride the bus and would rather have someone pick them up for church "on the way" so to speak. Ministry is a cycle, what is old goes out and is replaced by the new which becomes old then is replaced by usually the old again. It is a method among many.

 

I do not like Bus Ministry because the kids will go back to the World.

 

Not all. I am a bus ministry kid.

You obviously have not worked in a bus ministry for long.

Picture a bus with the front and back doors open. Now start walking kids through. Most of the kids that come in the front will leave out the back. Some will take a seat and ride. These kids are usually better christians than members kids.

Our kids don't have a choice about comming to church. Get up and get ready is the order on Sunday morning.

Bus kids for the most part are given the choice. That is why we lose so many. However, the ones that make the decision to ride(this is your core) are there because they want to be.

The problem with the bus ministry is that alot of Christians don't want to put in the work that it takes to establish a good bus route. That is where it is failing. Not because the kids go back into the world. A large percentage always have. But to those kids who ride your bus for years and you see them grow up, there is a special place in their hearts for you having taken the time to see them through thick and thin.

That is the reward of the bus ministry!

It not is the Bible.


But Family Church is.

 

Now usually bus's kid will go to the World.


They do not dress right.
And they play the Dateing game.

I think this is a very silly statement! Many great men of God were brought to church on buses, came with a neighbor or alone. Just because a child is brought in on a bus does NOT mean it's a waste. We pick up children on Wednesday nights from the local schools and have seen many parents won to the Lord from helping their children with their AWANA verses or coming to hear them sing in a choir production.

MY God is big enough to use a bus ministry or any outpouring of love to win the lost.

 

But Where is Bus ministry in the Bible?

 

My wife got saved through a bus ministry and never looked back. She is the most godly woman I know and is serving as a missionary.

God do use Bus Ministry.

But the Bible say that Dads and Moms should teach their kids

 

Read Galatians 4v2 - fathers can also put their childen under "tutors and governors".
