In our traditional service held in the chapel, the organ is on the left side (if you are facing the pulpit). Normally, the organ is the only instrument used in singing in this service. In our blended service held in the sanctuary, we do not use an organ.

SADLY, collecting dust on the right had side of the stage with a 9 foot grand and an electronic piece backed by a drum set and a couple of git-tars.

Thankful

That is sad, Diane. My son's church in Florida has this beautiful pipe organ, but no organist. I'm ready to volunteer, but so far Ed has said no.

The console (with 3 manuals, stops and pedals) is on the right. The pipes, wind chest and other essential parts are located across the back wall at the front of the worship center.

Do you mean right or left from the pov of people in the congregation or from facing the congregation?

I just voted, but said "right side" from the pov of someone in the congregation.

I wonder what others did when they voted -- congregation pov or facing congregation pov?

If the organ console is on the right from the congregations's view, it's "congregation right" and "chancel left". Kinda like "audience right" and "stage left" on theater speak.

That is not sad, Diane.

If there were an organ, or any other instrument in my church, the only purpose it would, and should, serve is to collect dust.

I wish every church would throw out their instruments and go back to the way music in the worship service was intended to be.

No organs, no pianos, no guitar, no vioins, no drums, no flutes, only human voices singing praises to God.

I don't see anything wrong with instruments in church.

5Meanwhile, David and all the house of Israel were celebrating before the LORD with all kinds of instruments made of fir wood, and with lyres, harps, tambourines, castanets and cymbals.

Psa 150:3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
Psa 150:4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
Psa 150:5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
Psa 150:6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

I wish every church would get more instruments and go back to the way music in the worship service was intended to be.

Yes organs, yes pianos, yes guitar, yes vioins, yes drums, yes flutes, not only human voices singing praises to God but let the dogs howl as well.

Our organ is "congregation right." Now I should go practice on my rosewood (It's a nice redish brown color) clarinet for Sunday.

Our organ & piano are congregation right. Both our organists have been off the last 3 weeks, but thankfully any dust that did gather will be knocked off the organ this coming Sunday

BTW, great link Johnv
I surfed through to www.acchos.org and checked out the mp3s. Would love to hear that thing letting rip in real life

hmmmmmm.....I wonder if there's some way a guitar can be wired in to one of those things...Experimented with my fx box a few years ago, but it wasn't up to the job.
