I debated on the different subjects and thought this one would be closest. If a moderator wishes to move it, that is fine.

I am watching a show tonight on the History channel (while the rest of you are probably watching the superbowl.) :D

It is "Where the Bible came from?". It is strictly a secular show and is covering the gnostic writings now. I would not recommend it for a new Christian or non-Christian, but it does have some historical value for those who are strong in their faith and can handle secular opinion.

Anybody else watching and wish to make a statement?

After watching the Superbowl, I wish I had watched the History Channel.

    Niether!
    Don't watch "broadcast" TV. :D

It is evil and you will burn in torment for all eternity if you watch "Hellivision"! [IMG]

I noticed that you mentioned "broadcast" TV. I assume you watch "satellite" TV. :D [IMG] [IMG]

Now, now, a thousand years may seem like an eternity, but it will end... eventually...

I think maybe the script writers were somewhat confused also. [IMG]

Didn't know about the History Channel broadcast but man, that was a good superbowl. It is usually a blowout on one side or the other, but last nights game was very balanced. First superbowl that I have enjoyed in years. Paul McCartny did a nice job with the halftime show and the military chorus was terrific with the National Anthem. Don't watch much TV, but I normally will watch a Superbowl and the World Series. Bruce

I take it that everybody kept their clothes on this year. [IMG]

The History Channel presentation was interesting but disjointed; it also had some out-of-date information about formation of the canon.

Ah, somebody else saw it. Yes, I agree on both counts.

The second episode that followed: "sex in the bible" was more than just disjointed. It was quite lame.

The History channel did do a good show on Dan Brown's new theory that Mary Magdeline was married to Jesus and bore his children and her daaughter was the holy grail that bore his blood.

They spent about 45 minutes presenting his side of the story and the last five minutes or so showing it was an impossibility. I DID enjoy that one; especially after they admitted there was pretty much zero chance of any of his theories actually being real; based on a historical point of view.

I saw that one but thought the version done by ABC news was better.

I think that the Bible closest resembling what we have today was found in Russia or the Slav Republic as it was known back in the Tenth century.
