Baja Oklahoma (the place formerly known as Texas)

I live in New Jersey but I'm from the gloryhallelujah beautiful SOUTH! And I'm going back as soon as I retire if not sooner (Lord willing - please Lord, be willing).

I live northeast of Enid.
North of where Ed lives and evidently where J. Jump would like to be.:D
Where do you live Ed?
I ask because I spent many years around the OKC area.
I've lived in Edmond, Tuttle, and Bethany.

I live in Norman. But I have a Noble phone number.
Last year Downtown Norman got 3-inches more rain
than I got at my house.

I'm taking care of a couple of Grandchildren that used
to live at Tuttle (just off Sara Road).

You know at one point Louisiana territory was like 3 times bigger than Texas is now. It was a great buy even back in those days.

I also noticed you can drive around my town and find more Texas plates than Louisiana ones. This used to be because we had the riverboats and casnios and all those rich folk from Texas couldn't gamble in Texas so they came here. Now it might have something to do with the rebuilding effort from Rita and Katrina, but also interesting is the new casino here is adding on already and it's only been there for 2 or 3 years. They built a 4 million dollar parking lot and destroyed it to build a resort/casino type thing where it was.

Turns out everything is indeed bigger in Texas, esspecially wallets and bank accounts. To the corrupt politicians here, that's all that matters. While this is good for bringing in money for us here in Louisiana, it also brings a ton of traffic and crime, which doesn't help the fact that many of us are still having tons of trouble rebuilding from hurricanes going on two years ago. They keep all that money, and use it to build casinos to bring in more money that us (that includes me) living below the poverty line still can't touch. It's a corrupt power and money game, seeing as how Mardi Gras is going on now, and people have no trouble spending a few thousand dollars to hoop it up for a week or so, but it's a great big deal for those people in south Cameron parish where whole towns were flattened to get state and federal funding to rebuild homes, and make them stronger and better.

Federal and state officials dropped the ball and WE'RE the ones getting hosed. That's right, people who came back to the insanity, like myself, are the ones getting beat up and robbed by jaded evacuees , because our state cares more about catering to the rich from other places, and using thier money to build more places to cater to them. No, to them it doesn't matter that it's driving up the crime rate, and soon south of I-10 will be a slum around a nice casino/resort, and they won't care as long as the vagrants don't step on thier grass. The poorer parts of town will become more crowded and poor and the violent crime will skyrocket. Yes, and we will still be getting hosed, while the big fat rich idiots are living it up on OUR tax dollars.

What a lovely state in which I live.

God help us. All of us.

Soli Deo Gloria,
Dustin

P.S. I'm sorry for the outburst, the gist of it is that casinos and such make a bad problem worse and there are better ways to spend all that money. I don't very well understand politics, but I do know that in politics, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, more often than not. In this case, we have corrupt people practically giving away thier money to corrupt politicians to build more casnos so those corrupt people can give away more money. I've lived in this city all of my life, and I've not seen a dime all that money they said it was gonna bring in. All it brought was more casinos and more crime and more traffic. But I thank God that He will use all of this to the good of us that love Him. He is in control, and that's why I can sleep at night.

I did. That was fun. Check Grants Pass, Oregon to see me, my oldest son, and Chris, the youngest one. Picture is from about five or six years ago, though, when we lived in California.

Perhaps you ought to have included "Not from the USA" as we do have some Canadians, Ozzies, Brits and at least one European.

If I recall correctly from my Texas Geography class in 4th grade, Texas has 7 regions. On this poll, it spans two - southcentral and southwest, but you could pick one or the other. crobinson is correct about no midwest being included.
