About 1/2 of respondents on another poll said that they used the KJV. I'm curious as to which one?

Is that compared to an "unauthorized" one? [IMG]

Whatever the Thompson Chain Reference Bible uses, I believe it is the 1769 version.

I recall that on Jack Chick's website, this guy who answers bible questions insists on the Cambridge Edition of the KJV. And wouldn't you just know? Mine is! Kind of disturbing, though, to be on the same page as Jack on this one.

Mine is a KJV1769. I also have an ASV1901, but some KJV purists argue it's not a valid KJV translation.

I always heard there was only one King James Authorized translation but different revisions which only cleaned up the English and typos while the translation itself remained the same. Is this true? Did the translation stay the same? If not I would like to know the changes. I'm sure this has been evaulated somewhere online.

    God Bless!

Its not really that bad, the main ones are Cambridge, Oxford, and whatever version Thomas Nelson uses for their Americanised edition.

There are loads of slight differences in smelling and punctuation, and even a couple of printing or copyist errors, but in reality the KJV is the KJV.

The only ones this question would affect would be those who would claim that there is a word for word, letter for letter, punctuation mark for punctuation mark perfect KJV.

The most accurate translation is the 1769 Cambridge KJV over the Oxford KJV. I have both of them.

By what authority do you make that claim Askjo? Can you give us solid textual evidence as to why the Cambridge is more accurate than Oxford?

BTW, I think you have it backwards it was the 1762 Cambridge and the 1769 Oxford.

And thanks for the note Rachel ;) .

"he" vs "ye" on Jeremiah 34:16 is an example -- I answered my posts on Bible versions/translatiions many times.
I opened my Bible and read it saying, "The Authorized King James Bible, Cambridge 1769 Text."
