I wonder if he'll do an official greeting for Rosh Hashanah? Seems to be a little late, if he was planning to, but maybe I should give him the benefit of the doubt.

If we weren't killing off Islamo-facists by the tens of thousands, do you think he'd say this ?

I agree that it's hugely disappointing to see him doing this. Most unscriptual also.

Bush has made too many ammends to his enemies.

The first Eid stamp was issued from the US Postal Service in September 2001 (before the 09/11 attack). President Bush (then Governor Bush) and several members of Congress from both political parties backed Muslim support for the issuance of the Eid stamp a year or so before issuance - in celebration of the end of Ramadan. I once posted links about this, but don't know if I can find them now.

Coincidentally, Eid backwards is die - a point not missed by a few people.

    You missed it, LE:

He also sends out Passover and Yom Kippur greetings and proclaimed Jewish Heritage Week. He didn't miss Eastern Orthodox Easter. And he doesn't forget Eid Al-Fitr.

It's also an anagram for Dei, which is Latin for God, which proves, as Jack Chick said, that Islam is a creation of the Roman Catholic Church.

    What's unscriptural about it?

Islamiphobes don't care about that. They only care about their liberal agenda (Islamiphobia is not conservative by any means, not is it scripturally appropriate behavior for the Christian).

    What's unscriptural about it? </font>
I definitely see it as problematic for a Christian, even if he's president, to say things that give credibility to a religion hostile to the Christian faith. Bush said this in '03:
It's problematic because the God of Islam is not the God of the Bible.

But to a political leader, so what, said the tailor to the nudist?

The God of Judaism isn't the God of the Bible either (because the God of Judaism omits the Son). But I have no problem with the annual Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur greeting every year.

I called my Muslim friend (that I've been sharing Christ with for several years) and wished him a happy Ramadan. How hellbound am I? He sent me a Christmas and Easter card. Should I have sent them back??

    Exactly, Marcia.

It has nothing to do with Islamaphobia.

But Bush is president, not a pastor. He's acting in his secular responsibilities by recognizing the faith of a segment of the population.

The God of Rosh Hashanah is the God of the Bible, the God worshipped by Christians. Rosh Hashanah is the Feast of the Trumpets initiated by God in the OT.

Whether or not present day Judaism omits the Son has nothing to do with Rosh Hashanah or the Feast of the Trumpets but has everything to do with our heritage as a "once" Christian nation. A fact which some people wish to nullify.

Exactly, RSR. Islamophobic liberals don't like the fact that they have to share their POTUS with non-christians.
But the God of Judaism is not. Judaism is by the standards set herein a false and corrupt religion. I have no problem with Bush representing them. Nor do I have a problem with him representing and/or sending greetings to Mormons, Buddhists, Hindus, Catholics, Seventh-Day Adventists, etc etc...

Then, if that's all it is, when will he give his first wiccan blessing? Or Hindu blessing? Or voodoo blessing?

The term Islamaphobia suggests someone is fearful and afraid of Islam. Perhaps some people are. But just because someone has objections to the Islamic agenda in trying to take over one's country, doesn't suggest fear, but rather disgust and contempt for the political ideology of Islam and the insidiousness of it all after 09/11 and the continuing PC agenda to accept Islam as a peaceful religion.

The "phobia" concept comes from the liberal side of the political spectrum, i.e., liberals are the first to cry "homophobia" about any suggestion that homosexuality is a deviation from the norm.

So, it seems to me your concept of conservatives and liberals is rather muddy. Conservatives don't sit and whine about being "afraid" and call ourselves phobic. We bomb. Oh, and true conservatives don't worry about being PC, either.

I doubt Bush sent it. It was probably a form letter sent out my a staffer. The problem however is using such terms as "the revelation of the Qur'an to the prophet Muhammed," which implies he believes these were revelations from God or endorses this belief that the Qur'an is the Word of God. That is very disturbing comments.

    </font>
Don't get sarcastic, John. You know I don't think you're hellbound, no matter how much you disagree with me. :D

I think making public statements that give the idea that the Koran is God's word and that Islam is a religion that worships the same God as the Christian God is misleading at best and unbiblical at worse. We are called to be faithful. (You did not imply any of this when you wished your friend a happy ramadan).
