Who are the all men in Rom 5:18 ?

Rom 5:18

18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Unless we understand this, who the all men are in this verse, we are bound to error, and this has been the snare of many false teachers, both of the freewill and the universalism camps. The all men in both instances are the children of God or the Sons of God, but do not include the children of the devil, or of the wicked one, or the seed of the serpent. 1 Jn 3:10

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

In the greek the children of the devil begins with the definite article, so they are a specific and definite people that are the spiritual offspring of the devil !

Matt 13:38

The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

Gen 3:14-15

14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Now satan, the devil, or the serpent had a offspring, none who embraces scripture can deny.

The reason why I bring this up is because the devils children did not have a original creation in Adam, for He was the Father of the Sons of God lineage Lk 3:38

38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

The Sons of God lineage is traced back by Luke from the Birth of Christ Lk 3:23 to Adam the Son of God [By Creation] Lk 3:38, therefore Adam represented only all the Sons of God in their original natural heritage in Adam 1 Cor 15:46-49

46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.

48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

49 And as we[The Sons of God] have borne the image of the earthy [Adam], we shall also bear the image of the heavenly[Jesus Christ].

These are the Sons of God in their Natural and then Spiritual Headships.

And it was through Adam and the sons of God that God ordained True Religion and Maintained it, for it was the Son's of God who began to call upon the Name of the Lord Gen 4:26

26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.

This is important because it is this characteristic " calling upon the Name of the Lord" that manifests men of Faith.

Notice what Paul said of the Corinthians of which we just stated were identified as the Sons of God naturally in Adam the first and afterward in Adam the last Notice here 1 Cor 1:1-2

Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's:

But here they are more identified as those sanctified in Christ Jesus, which we believe those of Gen 4:26 were as well. They had Faith given them as their forefather Abel did, whom cain slew and was replaced with Seth and so the Godly Seed of the Sons of God continued through Seth Gen 4:25-26

25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.

In the lineage of Lk he goes back to Enos to Seth then Adam the Son of God Lk 3:38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

Strikingly omitted in the genealogy of Christ in the Lukean account is Adam's firstborn cain as well as in the re-account beginning in Gen 5:1-6

This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;

2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth:

4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:

5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

6 And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos:

The reason for the absence of cain in the genealogy of Adam is because cain was not in Adam in original Creation, he was never a Son of God or of the Godly Seed Mal 2:15

15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

The Godly seed are those who are characterized by calling upon the Name of the Lord Gen 4:26. And we know that Abel was one of these from the scriptural testimony of him here Heb 11:4

4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

Faith will always characterize those who Call upon the Name of the Lord !

But that is why God created Adam and Eve One and called their name Adam Gen 5:1 was for the producing of the Godly Seed.

Also notice how God connects Seth with Adam in the Creation by restating of Seth what was stated originally of Adam that he was made in the Image and Likeness of God. This again reinforces that cain was never in Adam originally when he was Created in the Image and Likeness of God for he [cain] was not their seed as Eve acknowledged of Seth who replaced Abel Gen 4:25

25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom cain slew.

The reason for this is because cain and all the non elect are of the serpents seed or offspring Gen 3:14-15 and notice what John wrote of cain in His Epistle 1 Jn 3:12

12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

Remember Jesus said something of this Wicked One here Matt 13:38-39

38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

Now what happened is this, because of Adam's Transgression, God added to their conception by means of the woman Eve, now she would not only be the Mother of all Living, the Sons of God, the Holy Seed, but for chastisement and punishment, her conception would now in clude the physical birth of the serpents seed, a seed that would be outside of the redeeming Love of God in Christ Jesus, so yes, the children of the devil also take part in the death of the sin of adam's transgression, but that seed did not sin in Adam like Adam's seed did in the beginning. We believe that satan's seed originally sinned in him along with the fallen angels, all of which there was no redemption provided for them in Christ. So the All men in Rom 5:18 are the Elect, all whom will Call upon the Name of the Lord in Faith in Christ !
