Who Told You That You Were Naked? By Kelvin J. Cochran, (3G Publishing, Loganville, GA, 2013)

Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran faithfully serves his home baptist church as both deacon and teacher. This comes as fruit from his teaching role. After more than 30 years in the fire service, he was suspended without pay because of this irenic Christian book!

From the brouhaha, you might think this book exposited those verses in the Bible that condemn sodomy, or that it focused on marriage in light of the current drive to legitimize same-sex 'marriage.' (God knows we do need good teaching there.) It does not! Its focus is on exhorting Christian men to 'put on the Lord Jesus Christ' and encourages them in faithfulness in all areas of life. (The naked emperor of Atlanta ought to hang his head in shame.)

The issue it confronts: the stronghold of condemnation. “Those who suffer from this affliction have placed more emphasis on what Adam did in the Garden of Eden than on what Jesus did on Calvary.”

Cochran helps us to see clearly the effects and excuses that come from the Fall, and calls us to live in light of our Redemption. The book is wonderfully written and flows smoothly. It is clear and cogent. (And as an author, I was struck by the impeccable formatting.) At 160 pages, the thirteen chapter divisions make it ideal for a group study (from which it originates). The last three chapter titles show you the goal: The Disciplined Life of a Clothed Man; A Spirit-filled Virtuous Life; We Have Overcome the Stronghold of Condemnation.

Consider starting a Bible study with this excellent book. Our world needs salt and light, not more spectators. http://tinyurl.com/mdvcl5u

From the stats on Amazon, very few Christians have stepped up to support this faithful brother, even though this did get a lot of coverage in Christian news sources. The book has sunk like a rock.

Where are the stats? I was trying to find them, but don't usually look at stuff like that when I am buying a book.

If you scroll down until you see this:

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #72,870 in Book

On books that sell few copies, just one or two books will radically change its rank for a short time. A few people bought his book at first (I do not think that all that gave him good reviews actually bought the book) and his rank was less than 10, 000 but it has consistently slid downward as people buy other books.

A book that suddenly sells just a few copies will pop up into a ranking (1-100) in its listed category and then eventually fall out of that ranking when no more books are sold. His book was #10 in Bible study (not a category that sells a lot of books) when this began and now is not ranked in that category. I've seen this happen with my own books when a couple copies are sold.

    One Star Hate filled ratings

On Amazon there are a still a dozen one star ratings, most of which reveal that the 'reiviewer' has not even read the book! If enough Christians would support this brother by flagging those comment as 'inappropriate' they would be removed. Most are simply hate filled reactions. Go to his book. Click on the one star ratings. It will show a button "report abuse" and give a reason why it should be removed. http://tinyurl.com/mdvcl5u
