20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.
21 For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.
23 But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ's at His coming,
24 then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power.
25 For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.

In answer to the OP, I think one can find the first Christians in the 3000 or so that obeyed the gospel in Acts 2. Acts 2 was the first time the gospel of Jesus Christ was preached, and the 3000 were the first to properly respond to it.

If "christ" is the greek equivalent of "messiah," and if Abraham "looked forward to His day," then Abraham was the first Christian. Or maybe it was Adam if he understood the protoevangel (?) statement.

Abraham was not a Christian. Enoch was not a Christian. Noah was not a Christian. Moses was not a Christian. Nor were David, Rahab, Gideon, Samson...

Because of their faith God was not ashamed to be called their God Heb. 11:16) and they "received a good report"(Heb. 11:39).

But, they "received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect." (Heb. 11:39-40)


They looked to a promise, we are those who are "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith". (Heb. 12:2)

God can now "Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ." (Heb. 13:21)

That is a Christian. By grace. Through faith.

Is this question about when Christianity parted ways with Judaism. If so, then no suitable answer will be found since we have been trying to answer that question for a long time!

If this question is about who first had faith in Jesus, then certainly Acts gives us many examples of people with resurrection faith that we would call Christians today: Peter, John, Stephen, Paul, etc.
