Who will win the series?

Rooting for the Rockies, but I think the Red Sox will win in 6 or 7.

 

Rockies. No way I can root for the Red Sox

 

Boston in 4 or 5 - pitching and hitting. colorado has been a great story, but I think it ends.

What a great time to live in boston (except for teddy kennedy ) Redsox, Patriots and Boston College ranked #2 in the BCS! Living in TX is not so bad - Cowboys, Mavs ..... oh well perhaps next year

 

I'm tempted to say Boston in 5, but I'll go Red Sox in 6.

Boston is really enjoying sports success, I'll say that :thumbs:

Cleveland has to some extent, too. If the Indians went to the World Series, that would have been 2 of the 3 major teams in the city to compete in their respective championships, along with OSU football and basketball (and possibly football again this year being currently #1). With the Browns being only a game out of both the division and wild card with the softer part of the schedule coming up, I'm pretty pleased. Would be nice to win SOMETHING though...

I'm trying to see the silver lining today...

I'm going with Colorado, because the World Series is usually won by the team that is the 'hottest' at the time. There have, however, been teams like Colorado, which ended the season in that position, but still lost to seasoned champions, and that may happen here. Besides, Boston did suddenly get hot to come back and win the ALCS, and the extra days may have helped cool Colorado down a little. Nevertheless, I still go with CO, assuming a hot run like theirs can last a few more games.

 

I think the Red Sox win it because of a few reasons:

1. They are a hot team now also having won the last 3 in a row from Cleveland to take that series.

2. They do not have the long lay off that the Rockies do. I am wondering if that layoff is going to affect the Rockies and their "hot" play.

3. Josh Becket & Curt Schilling. Two big game pitchers that always seem to find a way to get it done.

With that being said, I would love to see the Rockies win it all. Just my head tells me otherwise.

 

Suddenly?

Boston's lowest hit count of the series was 7 in game 3. This doesn't suggest that they suddenly got hot. What it suggests is that they couldn't get timely hits, mostly due to grounding into 13! double plays. The Indians had sinkerballer pitchers inducing ground balls for an outstanding defense.

Hey webdog, any idea why Trot Nixon wasn't in the lineup for game 7? Wasn't it Gutierrez who grounded into that killer DP after Lofton was held on 3rd? Seems to me that Nixon would have been a far better choice for that game.

 

Wedge is a stubborn manager...that's why he stuck with Hafner and didn't put Nixon in. I would have started Nixon in every game in Boston. Instead of putting in Nixon for Gutierez, I would have lifted Hafner. He was in a slump basically from opening day.

 

Yeah, I didn't understand why Nixon was not in there. He is a lefty against a RHP at Fenway with the Pesky Pole. Made no sense to bench Nixon at Fenway. The Indians needed experience out there.

 

Red Sox.

I have to root for any team who is playing the Rockies.
And because I still love Curt Shilling.

 

The Red Sox will take the series in 6 games, in Boston. The first two games will not be close, but the Rockies will be able to beat the Sox pitchers not named Schilling or Beckett.

 

I think the Sox are a little more loaded, and having the homefield advantage will help.

 

Sorry - misread the post. But I am enjoying reading the opinions. Personally, I have no idea who takes the Series. The best team in baseball vs. the hottest.

Yeah, suddenly! A team ain't 'hot' that gets down 3 game to 1 unless they come back to take the series with 3 straight wins.

 

I think the Red Sox will win and I will be pulling for the Red Sox. I ALWAYS pull for the American league team in the World Series, unless the Cincinatti Reds are in it against an AL team I dont like, but thats never happened.

Example. If the Reds were playing the Minnesota Twins, I'd pull for the NL team. (the Reds) because I will NEVER pull for any pro football or baseball team that plays indoors. That is ANATHAMA! :thumbs: May those teams be forever cursed, until they come to their senses, as Minnesota is doing by going back to an outdoor stadium. :applause:

The Rockies arent a problem since the roof pulls back in good weather.
