Whose standards??

I heard Shelton Smith say that he went to the barber the other day and requested a "tight taper". Is a tight taper a Baptist stabndard or just a personal preference? Could I pastor if applied looking like a '65 John Lennon?

Whose standards? God's standards. The standard is not an outward appearance, but an inward indwelling of the Holy Spirit that brings forth the love of God and love for your neighbor.

As Jesus describes those who worry about outward appearance, they are called whitewashed tombs.

The Holy Spirit in you would guide you in what is acceptable as a pastor for outward appearance since a pastor is an example.

Actually, '65 Lennon would be a refreshing change over the drenched hair sprayed mops of some TV envanglists that would shatter into 1000 points of light if hit by a hammer.

Yes, Lennon '65 would be great with me. BUT...wouldn't most in the IFB camp have a fit about a minister wearing his hair over his ears and down past his eyebrows and down over his collar??

Yes, they might. In which case, if you feel called to minister to them, you should probably consider not wearing your hair in that manner so as not to offend the brethern. To me, if it is not a compromise of Scripture, but a matter of me wanting to hold on to my rights to wear my hair the way I want, I would rather give up my rights. If I can't do that, then I probably have no right to be their minister. Just my opinion.
