Why Christians Vote Republican Despite It All

The best thing to help California would be a tall wall between California and Old Mexico and enforcement of the idea that only US citizens can vote in US elections. Neither party is much good nowadays but the GOP is less useless, in my opinion.

Your suggestion is a good one. However, a better one is for you Easterners to start thinking of California as a viable mission field. In my experience, Eastern parents would rather have their children go off to Lower Slobovia as missionaries than go to California. And not come here necessarily as paid church staff. We need workers of all sorts.

I want to get back to the thrust of the OP. Abortion seems to be the dog whistle that gets everyone's attention. But, evangelistic abortionists are not a clear and present danger to the American body politic. However, evangelistic pagans as represented by rainbow flag are such a danger.

I favor a wall around California that separates it from Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona.

California has gone (past tense) to Hell in a hand basket. There is no hope for that evil place.
My pastor used to say "I'll be glad when God slides that Hell hole off into the ocean." I disagree with him. The eastern 2/3rds of the State is OK. Sliding the western third into the ocean would be sufficient.

Please don't call me an easterner. The east coast is crowded, dirty, and expensive. You probably would hate Indiana, as very few Californians move here. I am too old to travel to California, where I have already been half a century ago. I want to visit Kentucky again.

Can I assume you have the same attitude towards other bastions of paganism? For instance, would you celebrate a member of your church going to the People's Republic of China as an "English teacher" but read the same person out of meeting for going to the People's Republic of Berkley as a CPA?

I did use the term "stronghold of paganism" didn't I?

Berkley is still a great university but communist China is very fashionable these days. Have you read Bloom's '87 book on the closing of the American mind? I never did. I don't see that California is anymore left than downtown Indianapolis. It's all over the country as far as I can tell. Here in central Indiana we have the Islamic Society of North America, a Muslim Brotherhood front in Plainfield, IN, the town that shoved Martin Van Buren into the mud. The local police have to contend with some very evil jihadists.

China is a foreign nation. California is a cancer within, killing our nation. The cancer is so bad, it needs cut out.

I'd suggest keeping the west portion that lies north of Marin County - redwood country.

Ever seen it north of Boston? (Especially east of Penobscot Bay) Can't say it's inexpensive, but it's not crowded (outside of peak summer tourism) and only dirty because it gets the exhaust (and nary a kilowatt) from all those Midwestern coal-fired power plants. :Tongue

Folks here see a cancer. I see a field white unto harvest.
I do not think any Christian with a right-thinking mind is oblivious to the social and moral ills that California practices and perpetuates. But SR is right, California is a mission field. California is indicative of where our nation will be in 10 years. The Church better get used to that idea and full the mandate of Matthew go into the all the world (including California) and make disciples.
