Why did the Devil temp Judas to betray Jesus??

2 The evening meal was being served, and the devil had already prompted Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray Jesus.

Why did the Devil temp Judas to betray Jesus??

Is it because he didnt know the effect of Jesus dying on the Cross would be?

Well the easy answer is that God said it was going to happen, so it had to happen. But yes I tend to agree that Satan had no idea what would happen after the death of Christ. I am assuming that he figured he had won with the death of the Messiah, but to the thanksgiving, praise, glory and honor of God Almighty we know that Christ must suffer this things, and that He lives today at the right hand of the Father as our Adovcate before the Father when we mess up and will repent.
