Why did you leave the church you were attending, to join an IFB Church that takes a stand on separation?

I chose to join an Independent Fundamental Baptist church because:
    </font>
    • They invited me. ie: Soul Winning. </font>
    • They have a burden for lost souls. </font>
    • They preach from the Bible. </font>
    • They practice the Bible. </font>
    • They are friendly and care about my family and myself. </font>
    • I've learned more about the Bible and God since I became a member, than in all the years before becoming a member there. </font>
    • I've made many true freinds there.</font>
When I accepted the Lord as my savior, I became seperate from the world. I am not ashamed to have others see Christ in me. I am hopeful that they do. ;)

Grasshopper - The way to learn is to ask questions. When someone ignores, avoids or ridicules your questions, they show THEIR immaturity. Take heart!

Separation is one of the most misused terms ever to darkend the ifb landscape. It means something different to each individual. It is even tossed about more than "worldly" in my home, or "liberal" on the BB!

I'd recommend starting a thread on DEFINING "Separation". Only then would I be willing to jump into the fray.

Until then, I'm just too separated to participate in such a thread!

    Oh, aren't you SOOOOOOOO spiritual...LOL

But I do agree with your assessment of the word "separation". It is a relative term.

    :D ;)

As a teenager I started to go an IFB church thru the bus ministry it was a separated church (hac grad as a pastor).
I went to a similiar IFB separated college for a spell.
After that i left for a variety of reasons one being my backslidden state and the wickedness of my home pastor.

I been going to a variety of churches since 97-98. Most of the are what I call the Willow creek type spin offs. I was never satisfied with what i heard. I did not like the contemporary method. I felt when I was going to church I was going to some social ball or rock concert. I could not get my heart ready for the service because of all the flashy showy stuff.
Last month I began attending the same type of IFB separated church as I did as a teenager. I have seen a changed in my life since then. I feel the presence of the Holy Spirit work more in my life. It is hard for me to explain, but the presence is there. So basically the answer to your question Jutified would be I left my previous church because of the dead results, I went back to IFb because of the live results.

"...twas blind  but now I see [IMG] ..."!!!!

Actually, we didn't have much of a say in the whole matter (as the 'preacher' posted above it's where the Lord put us)! :D

Here's the short version of the Farmer and his wife...we took a stand in the SBC church that we were very active in...the Farmer was a deacon, etc. We were asked to leave because of this stand...besides how two walk together lest they be agreed?! Then we joined a Missionary Baptist Church (ABA) in which we were *excluded* from because we believe in the autonomy of the local Church...as in, no other Church has rule or reign over another! Seeing as how there is no other like-minded fellowship around, we are starting a church in our home with 6 other people under the guidance of the Lord through Old Path's Baptist Church in Campbellsburg, Indiana. My husband has been 'filling in' until the Lord sends us a pastor!

When I first became a Christian, I joined an IFB because I had this crazy idea that I had to do all of these religious type things to please God.

This IFB church nearly drove me away from Christ.

You asked why I joined an IFB. I told you why I joined an IFB. What's the problem?

When I was 12 years old, a lady came through our small town in central Illinois and asked us if we wanted to ride the church bus to Sunday School. The church, at this time was a SBC church. I began attending the church, was saved and baptized and then the Pastor pulled the church out of the convention in 1978.

They began a Christian School at time as well. I met my future wife in this now IFB church. We were married there at the church in Lincoln, Illinois. My children were born while we attended there. 3 of the 4 were saved and baptized there.

This church was the only church that ever came and knocked on our door and asked us to come to church. I was from a broken home; my hair was too long; my music wasn't right; my friends were all wrong; yet, I never heard one word of criticism. They loved me and as a result, I am now pastoring an IFB church that loves bus kids and wants to reach their families.

We are in VBS this week, we had 87 children here this morning. 11 have trusted Christ so far this week. Praise the Lord. That's what it's all about.

    Great report, Pastor Bob!

DH and I are members of an IFB church... and it too is because they came to the door and knocked.

Praise God for faithful Soul winners.
