    Dear Clint,
This has come to my attention and I have a specific concern. I realize I am the only one who replies to your Bible readings and I am wondering why on earth do we have this forum??? It is useless IMO, if no one except me replies to your posts....

    Well, maybe I can help.

This is the first time that I ever even realized that this was a discussion forum. I have always passed it over and not looked inside because I thought it was just a listing of daily Bible readings.

I already have the One Year Bible, so I never peeked inside. Until now.

I saw the title of your post on the front page of the board and I clicked on it.

Now I know there is more to this forum than I thought.

Maybe there are some other dumb bunnies like me out there!!

    Peace-

    YSIC

    Hi Jesse -

I apreciate your concern and I understand that you may feel that you're the only one in here with me. However, you may want to check this poll that Bill posted back in April: http://www.baptistboard.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=39&t=000041&p=
    Here are the results:
We also activated a feature when we last upgraded the site that showed who had been where on the board in a given time and I was pleasently surprised to see several names in here throughout the day.

Reading the Bible staright through takes a certain commitment on the part of the believer, Jesse, but it's one of the most empowering things that a Christian can do. We started out with a lot more folks than what we have now. Some said that they prefer going straight through the Bible instead of jumping around the way that we do so the sister forum to this one was created. Personally, I like the plan that we are on. 20-30 minutes a day is all that's necessary for the reading and the 5-6 days at the end of the month gives those that are lagging a chance to catch up.

Those few of us who have continued on this quest are now halfway through and anyone who wants can jump in at any point that they like. If we all stick with it we will all finish the Bible in a one year time period from our start date. Lord willing, the forum will carry through into the next year as well and we will continue building on the commentaries over the years.

Maybe it will be you making the sole commentaries for months at a time one year Jesse. [IMG]

I've received a few e-mails about this forum and they are always very complimentary. All over this board, people are arguing what God says in the Bible and what it means in context, but here we are quietly reading and studying right from the source. In a way, Jesse, (maybe it's my age showing) I kind of like the peace in here. [IMG]

    May God bless you

    - Clint

    One other thing, Jesse:
Even if it was only you, it would not be useless...

I like very much that you have Bible reading forums here. [IMG]

And I like reading the bit at the end where you say "May God bless you" [IMG]

    That makes me feel peaceful!

    Jesse,

You are right that very few people reply to Clints commentaries, but that dosn't mean they are not being read. Personally I try to get in and read them but a couple of times a week, but for the last month or so the world has intruded upon me. As Clint said even if you were the only one reading it, then it would be worth it.

I read them nearly every day, I just don't comment, because I don't feel that I know as much Scripture as a lot of the folks here. But I enjoy this part of the board very much!

I don't feel a forum is useless to some who likes to read the Bible this way. I personally could never read it like that and that is why I requested a forum where those who want could read through it from Genesis to Revelation. I'm enjoying that forum and am constantly following along and making comments. I want to thank those responsible for bringing that forum about. Well I would hang around here a little longer but Genesis Chapter 27 is the lesson for tonight... Drop by sometime!... See ya there!... btw Elizabeth we have all been in your shoes... Well, exactly.

Paul said " I have become all things to all men" (1 Cor 9) and I believe that offering different types of helps for reading Scripture, in order that they will work for more people than just those who read it one particular way, is a valid application of the general principle expressed in that verse... This Bible Reading Plan is designed to read through the Bible in a year. By reading from four separate places in the Scripture every day, you should be able to better grasp the unity of the Scriptures.

You can begin at any point of the year. To prevent the frustration of falling behind, which most of us tend to do when following a Bible reading plan, each month of this plan gives you only twenty-five readings. Since you'll have several "free days" each month, you could set aside Sundays to either not read at all or to catch up on any readings you may have missed in the past week. If you finish the month's readings by the twenty-fifth, you could use the final days of the month to study the passages that challenged or intrigued you.

Daily readings will be linked to an online KJV translation on GCN's website. This site will allow you to read the passage in | NIV | NASB | NLT | NKJV | RSV | KJ21 | NIV-IBS | WE | YLT | DARBY | as well as the following foreign languages: | Français | Deutsch | Italiano | Latin | Norsk | Portugues | Español | Svenska | Tagalog | Arabic | Nederlands | Plautdietsch | Danish | Slovak |

I am very happy that this plan has been worked out- as I am a flitter - going from here to there in a most disorganised way - I think the amount that I tried to get into my head at one time was putting me off - now that you have cut up the slices for me I hope not to get discouraged and therfore complete the course -I have read a lot of the Bible but have never completed the whole book in an organised way, this should help me no end, and will make me keep at it - Thank you very much.

I think these forums are for people who dont know where to start in there bible. I personally just kinda skip around. I am currently working on Mathew. I am listening to it on a cd. NOTHING that helps people better understand God's Word is useless.

Hello Denise. Though you may be getting out of the gate a bit late, catching up is very feasible at this point. I would recommend not overwhelming yourself, however. With 25 readings scheduled per month, you will still have time to catch up at a more reasonable pace using the "off" days at the end of the month.

We're glad to have you with us. [IMG]

    Hello Denise and Masterwalk,
I had never read the Bible from beginning to end until 3 years ago, but thanks to Clint and this thread, am now on my 3rd time through ........ still reading AND still learning. I never thought I`d have the `staying power` but as you see I`m still staying with it.
    Welcome to the fold .
