This is the final straw for me. Right now, the former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami is speaking at the Washington DC National Cathedral extolling the virtues of Islam, nearly on the anniversary of 09/11. He has spoken at Harvard and is scheduled to speak at Georgetown University and several other big universities. It was bad enough that President Bush had an imam who preached Death to America speak at the 09/11 Memorial Service right after 09/11, an imam who has been filmed advocating death to Americans, a man with ties to terrorism. But this event tonight is the frosting on the cake. All true Christian Patriots should be appalled, but I already know there are those even on the BB who will say, what is the big deal.

I no longer will say "God Bless America." I will no longer sing God Bless America. I will no longer pray for God to Bless America. My personal corner for patiotism to this nation has turned a corner, something I never thought would happen.

I believe God will soon judge this nation for all of our wickedness, including the murdering of millions of unborn Americans. I pray that when His Judgment comes, it will be swift and unmistakable so that even those with the hardest hearts and the scoffers who say God is in His heaven and doesn't have anything to do with what is going on in this world or in this nation, will have no doubt that it is the Hand of God from which the Judgment comes. I do pray, however, that in His Mercy, He will spare His Saints, like He spared Noah. I pray that the lost will turn to Him quickly before it is eternally too late.

    Even so Come, Lord Jesus.

    LE,

It would be a shame if you let the errors of a few (albeit in leadership) to create a bitterness that infects your view of the country as a whole.

This is just today. Things change in a moments notice without warning. What is needed is fortitude. Call your representatives till they cant stand to hear from you anymore. Support a candidate that will handle things in the American tradition. Pray and fast. Put your energy into anything to effect change. But give up is not an answer.

I will be praying for you.

    Deserved? No.
    Needed? More than ever.

    So I'll pray for it.

Now pledge allegiance to it? No.
Fly a flag? No. I took my flag down the day the government intervened with my family and disregarded the rights and freedoms of myself and my children and I found I was powerless - that those freedoms mainly are for those who can afford to defend them.

    My allegiance is to God.
    My symbol is my Bible.

I will stand and sing God Bless America.
I will pray for our leadership.
But...I won't defend it from true accusations, for the truth is an ally, an ally which we cannot afford to lose. For the sweetest honey of a soothing lie brings only pain in the future, but the truth brings peace in the present for those who will face it.

I was trying to be really dramatic and inspirational and straight-out-of-a-movie like...how'd I do?

LE, please reconsider. Please continue to pray as you have in the past. As usual, the people of America needs prayer as much or more than ever before. Do not abandon hope.

Thank you for your encouraging words & your prayers. I have called & written my representatives & senators & the white house & the news media and the last election, I supported a candidate that promised to handle things in the American tradition, the Constitution Party candidate. I was told I was wasting my vote unless I voted for the "lesser of two evils," the Republican candidate. Yet, it is the State Department of the Republican President which granted the visa for this man to come into our country. This man who stood and praised allah in our National Cathedral this evening, whose government was responsible for the torture, imprisonment, and murder of my Christian brothers & sisters in Christ in his own country, under his rule, under his watch.

    http://www.christianpost.com/article/20060904/24244.htm

I have prayed and so have so many others, but our prayers are in vain because we continue to elect, encouraged by even our own Evangelical Christian leaders, ungodly men who worship at the altar of greed and globalism. The fact remains, our country is so far down the tubes, God will destroy us. And I don't blame Him, we deserve it.

I am not bitter, I am vexed. But above all, I grieve.:tear:

Be careful what you wish for, LE. Be very, very careful.

I am curious, though. And I ask this sincerely: Now that you have turned your back on this country, what country will you be moving to as I imagine you don't want to continue to enjoy the blessings that the rest of us have living in the United States?

The black-turbaned cleric made a scholarly, theological plea for greater dialogue among cultures but stayed away from direct commentary on current events. He did admonish both Eastern and Western cultures to "rescue life from the claws of warmongers and violence-seekers and ostentatious leaders," but he named no names.

Yeah, we have to be careful about allowing anyone to speak in the National Cathedral against warmongers and those that commit violence.

Is it still ok for me, a foreigner, to continue to pray for God to bless Americans?

Shucks, even your president now calls our prime minister, "Steve"... We must be friends again.

    Cheers,

    Jim

We have had decades of state sanctioned infanticide and not too long ago starved a woman to death, and yet, this was the final straw for you? There is nothing good enough about America that would compell God to bless us. We are truly a totally depraved society and have been for a long time. It is only God's mercy and grace that has sustained us this far. If you think spiritually that you are any better, I hope you understand the grace and mercy that has been shown to you. So no, don't pray for God to bless America. But give God the glory alone if he does continue to do so. And perhaps, instead of praying for the suffering and death of our soldiers, who are part of America, and my family, who are also part of America, much like Fred Phelps does, you might send a prayer that is more reminencent of the prophets of the Old Testament who prayed for God's mercy and grace. Or perhaps, you might even look to the example of Jesus on the cross who prayed for God to forgive them for they know not what they do. I think that would be a more Godly response from you. What do you think?

Do you see the destructive, unfortunate consequences of the Arminian doctrine which makes the free will choices of man more powerful than the sovereignty of God. You act as if God is sitting helplessly by, unable to answer your prayers for our nation because of how others voted in an election. How sad. Is God in control of the universe or is man? I bet that you will somehow find your prayers answered faithfully, however, in the next tragic natural devestation or in the next terror attack. I can hear you, Pat, Fred, and Jerry now proclaiming the judgment of God on America. Do you have your God hates America sign yet?

No need to be mean, Joseph, I am trying to make a point here.

Can someone give me any reasons why God should continue to bless America? Can someone please explore the message of my post, rather than attack the messenger and comparing me to Fred Phelps? Or bringing up the Armenian/Calvinism debate into this thread?

C'mon, people. Tell me why God should continue to bless America when our nation praises false gods before Him, whether they be allah, greed, or secular humanism, and while we continue to sacrifice our unborn children to Baal under the name of "choice?"

And why do we have a double standard - why is it okay to allow someone to speak in our National Cathedral who has himself tortured and murdered our brothers & sisters in Christ under his leadership? Is it because they are Persians and not Americans that makes it okay?

Well that was completely unnecessary and an incorrect view of free will which need not be equated with Arminianism.

    Anyhow.....

Le none of that is right. As you look back in biblical history God only removed himself when the overwhelming majority turned against God. And then he always saved a remnant. There are so many christians in America that are so faithfully following God. Do not discount them. LE you are discouraged. Something has taken your courage. During such times we should withhold our words and seek God's face. Pray for our leaders, our country, and our people and allow God to be God.

You could ask that question about any country on the face of the earth.

You act like because everything isn't going to suit you in the U.S. that you want to pick up your marbles and go home. Fine. Just let us know what country you like better that you are going to move to.

Ken, you are totally missing my points. Expand your vision to the bigger picture. Rev. Mitchell has come the closest to hitting the nail on the head in responding to my post. I am discouraged and sad, but I have not given up my Faith in the Lord God Almighty.

Some of you on here remind me of Job's three friends. And some on here have stated in times past that 2 Chronicles 7:14 only applied to OT Israel, but does not apply to America today.

So again, I ask, why should God continue to Bless America and for what? Could it be that the only reason He is withholding His Almighty Hand of Judgment on our nation is because of His faithful remnant in this Land?

    Why?

For the sake of those that are in it and still asking. For the sake of the innocent. Because I'd rather not have things get even worse at least while people I love are still here. Because grace preaches more than punishment for a lot of people.

Because he is an unfair God and gives us what we don't deserve and more, and that is why we are to come to him with boldness. It doesn't take much strength to ask what deserve...but we deserve NOTHING. Yet we are told to ask for it. So let's do that.

Because we need it...because it would encourage us, because it might discourage enemies, because there are still more than 10 faithful people in our country.

Think about what a blessing could be. A blessing could be a law passed that makes it harder to obtain an abortion.

A blessing could be better leadership.

A blessing could be more people turning to God.

That is quite possibly true. But, for the sake of my children, if the Lord tarries, I pray that God will bless America. Even more than that, I pray that America would be a blessing to God!

    Job 2:10
......................... What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
