While alarmists for many years have been proclaiming that the end is at hand, we've never had the leaders of the world proclaiming that WW-III may start any day.

We also are faced with the fact, that over 50 % of people who believe in some kind of god, are Muslem, or some other cult faith.

We also have never had any other religion (in modern times), openly telling it's members to start a Holy War (jehad).again both Christians and Jews. Telling their members that god will reward them, for each Christian and Jew they kill. That suicide missions will get you brownie points with god (I'm using god, as their god is not our "God").

It's now time for us to begin telling the world, that if they don't want to spend eternity in Hell, that they need to accept Jesus as God.

It's looking like it's "Now or Never", for non-believers to accept Jesus; or ending up in Hell. For the believers, to quote a Christmas song, "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas". It's sounding like our clock for eternity with God is reading 11:59:59.

Well, it's always "now or never" to get saved, life is short and could end at any time.

As to the world situation, let's not proclaim that the end is just around the corner and be wrong for the 757th time.

    Let Van Impe do that.

Pa.Jim, You are right! Life is short, don't wait the time to get saved is now, who knows if another time will come.
The end is near, could be today or years from now, but in God's time.

I'm frankly not interested in 'preaching' on 'end times,' as they've been here for 2,000 years. However, YOUR end and mine might be any time...so we'd better be ready........

my pastor has been preaching that God was coming soon since the sixties, his son says. And I don't think it will be too much longer untill Christ returns. We do need to get out the gospel. I'm looking forward to Heaven, but being there without friends and family is an awful thought. We need to wittness and get everyone we can saved. If the muslims, and buddists and jw's can proclaim their lies, then we ought to tell the TRuth, the gospel.

    2 Peter 3:
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

I was caught up in end times rapture doctrine in the early 1970s. The rapture teachings all pointed towards the year 2000. The year 2000 has come and gone, and Jesus hasn't returned yet, in spite of all those who taught that He would.

I think the dispensationalist teaching of the rapture has run its course. It may be re-invented. But my personal opinion is that by 2005, many who trusted in the rapture teaching will become disillusioned, and start falling by the wayside, and by 2010, will possibly have left the church. Their trust was not in Jesus, but in a theory, a doctrine, that did not prove correct.

Many have backed off teaching about end times because they had the wrong doctrine.

    Jesus is returning.
As somebody said, "Jesus is coming back. Look busy."

    Someone once said:
There will be as much mystery concerning the second coming as there was about the first coming.

Matthew 24:44 "So then, you must always be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you are not expecting Him.

Every Generation scince Christ has believed they are the last or near to it.

Look at the damage dome by groupd who have named dates, SDA, JW's etc

To focus on this area is to in a way miss the point. Each Christian should be living as though they are ready.

I think God wants people to choose Him on a pure free will basis. Some churches try to scare people into making a descion. Yet you have to ask the question, are those people really won over to Christ.

It does seem a daunting task, evangalising the world. Yet God has a plan and a purpose for the task. It is our goal to find out what He wants us to do and GO FOR IT!!!

Not preach a hobby horse, a single doctrine, a theological interpretation. I am pretty good at preaching those myself!

But the "whole counsel of God" - preached with patient and careful exposition? That is why expository preaching [contrasted to topical] will always be my first choice.

Then I am preaching what God said, in sequence and format, not some subject that is my word, interest, hobby-horse, or felt-need.

I like the scipture Bro. Ernie posted for this topic because I think it's true. I feel some days like the church is the one descibed in Revelation as being neither cold nor hot, and it bothers me! We need to be doing something! Weiter Christ comes today or a hundred years from now. I believe that everything that needs to be fullfilled has been, adn I can't see as there's much keeping My Saviour from coming. No, don't set a date! That would be foolish, considering that the Bible says no one save God knows the hour. But the Bible descibes it as immenent, and I think that means "looming over, coming soon, unstoppable," and if it was descibed that way in Bible times, we surely must be closer. An evangelist preached a message about this recently at my church, and Oh I wish I could remember the points to it!
Preachers need to preach Christ is coming. He can come any day, any second, and we need to be busy! And the day to get saved is NOW. The Bible says something {can't remember exact words right now} about now being the day of salvation. Regardless of when Christ is coming, even now we have sinners dieing and going to hell, and they need the message of salvation. No one is promised another day. We all need to be ready. Thank God, I'm settled, but how many more people do we know that aren't ready? Family, people you work with, go to school with, just people you meet anywere. They all need Christ!

It's being preached around here. But the emphasis is to get ready and stay ready.
I am 44 and I have always heard that it won't be long until Christ's return. As much evil as there is in the world today, I feel like it is near.

I, and others I know, are preaching these things. Why? Because such doctrines are in the Bible and the times seem to match in many ways.
