But he still holds to the five points. But I agree, snarkiness comes from us and the other side in these debates. None of us are exempt from the pointing finger.

No its not. Its an arrogant characterization in order to demonize those with whom you disagree with. Further more you stick it in your signature so as to be a finger in the eye of the same people. You are a prime example of that club.

I don't see how anyone could disagree with you on that point. If there is one thing I've noticed around here, however, is that it goes both ways. I've seen (fairly recently) members characterize Calvinists as denying men of free-choice, of making men "robots", and as determining God to be the author of evil.

Unfortunately this section of the forum often looks like nothing more than a mud pit (or perhaps a pig pen may be a more apt description). Christians on both sides seem to have an unhealthy desire to demonize others, calling it "iron sharpening iron" while lacking the mettle for the task.

I get this mental image of most of us being stuck in a celestial Romper Room, and Jesus lets us out only once we all agree to "play nice"

When you argue against the fringes, you essential argue against a straw man. Now, that may be fun for you, and you are sure to win the argument, but you haven't actually engaged in meaningful discussion or debate, in doing so.

Yes, some do. And some non-Calvinists hold to open theism. I suspect it is wrong to attribute either belief to the whole.

there have been a number of them on this board over the years. Further, it is far more likely that a calvy will hold to God authors evil then it is anyone else holding to open theism. One is very common the other is not.

I remember one non-Cal here who said he saved himself (I can't remember who, and think he's no longer around) . And I've seen the charge of open theism quite often, but only remember one (I think) who held the view.

Do you think most Calvinists on this board believe that God is the author of evil?

He said it's more likely that a Calvinist believe God the author of evil than a non-Cal hold to open theism. But "more likely", even if true, doesn't justify attributing that idea to the whole. For example, I could say that a non-Calvinist is more likely to reject Penal Substitution Atonement (which is true). But I would be wrong to act as if non-Calvinists as a whole do so.

Even if 95% of Calvinists believed God authored evil (which I doubt is true), the fact that Calvinistic doctrine (the Canons of Dort) teaches otherwise negates such a claim. @Revmitchell is right that some Calvinists demonize non-Calvinists. But he is wrong to go beyond Calvinistic doctrine (which specifically states that God is in no way the author of sin) in order to demonize Calvinism.
