Why was the entrails?

In this verse why does God require the priests to wash the entrails (inner parts) of the sacrifice before burning them?

Leviticus 1:13 NIV
(13) He is to wash the inner parts and the legs with water, and the priest is to bring all of it and burn it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, an aroma pleasing to the LORD.

:laugh: That is a very practical answer, dear sister, and I think it is correct as well...
The spiritual answer is, imho, because our offerings (which is our body according to Romans 12) should be as clean inside as it appears outside, and since nobody can do that, be as clean inside as he is outside, we are hid in Christ who is the perfect burnt offering.

But, of course, I may be off the mark here.

All I know is that dung in the Bible represents the lowest of all despicable things. Why would God want that in his sacrifice, right? I'm sure I wouldn't want that stuff in a sacrifice to me!:laugh:

if the entrails were not clean, the burning sacrifice wouldn't be "an aroma pleasing to the LORD." This is inreference to the continual burnt offering...I don't think that the Lord required the entrails of the sin and tresspass offerings to be cleaned...These were not sweet smelling and were burned out side the camp.
