Will a million dollars retire you?

Must have been a government worker. Who else has a 7k pension AND health insurance coverage?

And why is a 54 year old thinking of retirement?
Again, must be a entitled government worker.

That’s way to young! A 54 year old can expect to live about another 25 or 30 years (or more).

Not to mention the higher medical bills to facilitate such benefits. I had a member of our bible study get airlifted about 50 miles from Blacksburg (Montgomery Regional) to Roanoke at a cost of $50,000. He actually told us he wish they would have let him died.

The fees are part of a game. If you have insurance, the insurance has negotiated fees that are typically closer to 10% of what the Hospital charges someone with no insurance. We saw my wife’s $120,000 surgery was only $12,000 for our insurance of which we owed 20%.

Her brother had a daughter in college who had a condition that was never identified, but resulted in over $1,000,000 in Hospital Bills. He just sends them $10 every month. They can take it or leave it.

Side Note:
If the people elect those who cause inflation, no nest egg is safe. If in the present year, your house is worth say 1 million dollars, but in a few years a loaf of bread could cost 1 million dollars, your life's work has been made worthless.

Just keep voting the Dems in and rely on the compassion of the godless to take care of you.

A million dollars would be enough, because God would make it enough.

Although widely held, this understanding of the prayer is in error. It is as if some folks do not know born anew Christians can suffer and die from a lack of essential needs.

Duh!
Of course Christians have died from starvation. This does not mean we stop praying that God will provide our daily needs.

The point in this thread is this: One million dollars is enough to buy daily bread. Extravagant partying, no, but daily bread, yes.

Second, the purpose of the local church is to assist with daily needs for the elderly. Living in an individualistic bubble is a particularly American phenomenon that goes against the Bible.

1) Did anyone say or suggest we should not petition God for our actual needs? Nope - so obfuscation on display.

2) You have no idea whether a million dollars will provide "daily needs" for a retired person with no other source of income for a person with a 25 to 50 year life expectancy. Run-a-way inflation can destroy any "nest egg."

3) Yes, the local church has among its purposes providing for its members by its others members. Not in dispute.

I notice you are now attempting to move the goal line by adding more hypothetical years to our hypothetical person's lifespan.
As a believer, do we have a body of believers that is watching out for us? Do we have no God who will hear our cry for justice?
Did Jesus not say "I will never leave you nor forsake you."?

Did Jesus not tell us that he cares for the sparrow so we should not worry about Him caring for us? Are we not worth as much as a sparrow?

The Dems are worse, but the main stream Republicans love to spend too. Very few fiscal conservatives in DC.

To be fair, fiscal conservativism is a spectrum. But you are right.

That said, our nation (the people represented) are not fiscally conservative as a majority.

Look at Matt Gaetz. Biden has a higher approval rating among those he represents. Gaetz is fiscally conservative. I like that. But his approval rating dropped below 25% among those he represents (a few have suggested a recall election).

So while I appreciate Gaetz position, he has somewhat betrayed those who elected him insofar as representing those people.

We have raised a couple of generations on debt. That is all they know. And it reflects even many fiscal conservative citizens.

I mean, what do you do? If one day 75% of our citizens want socialism, then what is the responsibility of those elected to represent them but to represent them.

We can't reform DC in today's national climate.

Many of my family have lived into their nineties. Thus, using a conservative 10 year margin, planning for the possibility of living to 105 is not a reach.
Did you claim Jesus will leave us? Stop asking vicious questions for the purpose of obfuscation.

These efforts to justify voting to the worst choice over the best choice are of no merit.

Living within our means is a biblically based principle. Spending our grandchildren's tax money today is to take more than our share. The folks that push spending beyond what is necessary are the Democrats.

I vote Republican. Always!! The McConnell crowd are not much better than Dems. The Tim Scott's and Rand Paul's are truly worthy of our votes.

Zero dollars will provide for daily needs because our God will provide. Have you no faith?
Look at Jesus parable of the farmer who declared his need to build bigger barns and then get back to us.

It depends on where you live and/or how you want to live.

One million placed in tax free municipal bonds would yield about $40 K tax free income every year, or so says my advisor.
