Will futbol ever become popular n the US

I personally do not see it happening, but anything is possible.

What is futbol? Soccer is only popular in 3rd world and socialist countries. Think there's anything to that?

 

It probably wont become huge in the USA which thrives on games which include the hands and mountainloads of padding and protection. The real manly games such as rugby, hurling, etc will always remain more popular outside of the USA. Exciting games without endless statistics, such as football (soccer ) will also remain unpopular. A lot of those endless amounts of stats are in my opinion, there to distract from what are pretty dull sports. Take baseball for instance...yawntastic....american hand...er..football....a girly version of rugby......the only american sport I can stomache is ice hockey...padding aside, its quite exciting..which is why its also popular in europe. Altho Canada invented it...and russia are good at it...England are trying to create interest and it seems to be moving along steadily.

hahahahahahaha!!!! 3rd world and socialist countries!!! you know soccer is one of the top sports in EVERY country in the world except U.S.?

 

This surely must be in jest. The only place in the world where football (soccer) is NOT a major sport is the US.

 

Let's see: first, it's spelt F-O-O-T-B-A-L-L. Second, it's arguably the national game in the UK (apart from Wales for some reason), Ireland, the rest of Europe etc, so so much for the comment that it was only played in 3rd world and socialist countries

Football - the true universal sport.

 

That's because they speak Spanish and Portuguese there. This is pretty-much exclusively an English speaking board and I therefore gave the English spelling.

cant imagine any more third-world nation than Britain... its Futbol in spanish right? i took spanish for a couple years. doubt it would be really popular even if U.S. won it, but there is a small following, and the U.S. team isnt really that bad. not necessarily up there with England and Argentina and Brazil, but they are about at the same level as Ireland. 10th in the world i think

haha, i spent a few days in Surrey, got to see London. you guys have a beautiful capital city

 

Sorry guys Wales is for me even though the best sport in the world (soccer) isn't the national sport is still the best. But rugby is the national sport so i don't mind. How could any one say that soccer doesn't have the most skill in any sport. Even us people in 3rd world countries are pretty good at it.

 

Just admit it, Rich. You've never taken the time to even try to understand American football. Football is incredibly exciting if you know anything at all about the game.

 

Rugby and American football are "sister" sports IMHO. However, some of the hits in this years Six Nations competition are equivelant to anything I saw in the Super Bowl with the exception that ruggers wear no pads. Ruggers also play "both ways" for the full 80 minutes without huddles. Decisions must be made on the field, or during a slow down in the action. Dead balls are quickly dealt with so there is no real time for a planning session like the American huddle.

Yes American football is exciting. I don't know if I would call it "girly rugby" but it is not as physically tough on the players are rugby is.

 

im stayin out of the football - rugby debate. i love them both, just two different games
