Actually, if you read the exit polls you will see the middle is not as eager to "drill, drill, drill" as the right would want to believe. Unlimited drilling in every nook and cranny is something only supported by the far, far right. We all want to end our dependence on foreign oil but we need to do it responsibly as good stewards of the dominion given us by our Creator. We can't destroy the earth in the process.

By the way, with the way Palin attacked Obama and the democrats, I wonder how she will do getting her pipeline funded?

Um...it's not "Palin's" pipeline. And she never claimed to own it. And if Obama/democrats retaliate and hurt our energy supplies in the process....well, now, that just wouldn't be cool, would it? Anyone who would be willing to wreck our economic well-being to "get back" at a political adversary should be unceremoniously yanked from office.

Back to the OP (though I'm sure we'll be back to slamming Palin pretty soon)...It's been fairly consistent through the years that a candidate would move to the center for the campaign, and then go back to their "default position" once the campaign was over. That's been true for decades, and IMO still is.

I would be shocked if Obama didn't move to the left now that he's in office. And if anyone, anywhere, would dare suggest that Pelosi is centrist...that person should have their head examined. That demonstrates a stunning lack of knowledge about Pelosi.

Look how the McCain supporters overwhelmingly wanted to drill, drill, drill while the majority, the Obama supporters since he had the majority popular vote, didn't seem to have that same attitude. Drilling everywhere just isn't a priority to the majority of the people.

I don't speak for Obama so was just throwing that comment out there. I will say the liberals don't want to drill in Anwar so her pipeline has little chance of passing in the next few years. By the way, this is the pipeline she took credit for creating in her bid for the whitehouse.

The truth is, there is no pipeline yet... And it doesn't look like Anwar will be the place for new drilling since there are far more economical places to drill in this land without building a $40 Billion pipeline. And, the places we choose won't harm the environment and will leave natural habitats for our kids and grand kids.

Oh, and I forgot to add, the pipeline would only cost $26 Billion, is not the most expensive infrastructure project ever and will only supply 3% of our oil consumption at maximum capacity. It is also at least 10 years down the road.

The "anwar" angle is humorous. The eco-wackos act as though we're going to set the state of Alaska on fire. The section of "anwar" we'll be drilling upon is a tiny, tiny fraction of the federal-owned lands. It's also not the pristine, lovely mountainous fruited plain. It's a mud pit. And we won't mess it up...look at how the Alaskan pipeline has actually been beneficial to local wildlife.

Face it...the eco-wackos desire our economy to be destroyed. It ticks them off that Americans are willing to drill for oil. And they'll lie to get their agenda accomplished. Congrats for buying in to it.

• You hate Palin so bad that you've decided you understand her motivation for everything she does. So you now know why she wants to drill, and you know every motivation she has for removing the polar bears from the endangered list? (Hint: the data is very conflicted on the polar bears--several studies have them increasing in number).

The part about removing the Polar bears is what she said in the interview with Maria Bratiromo and she building that pipeline was part of her campaign promises for Governor. It will bring a lot of revenue to AK, a place with no taxes and the people get a check from the oil companies.
