This is a bold statement I am about to make which will probably lead to a whole new thread. But, if your pastor is not an example, then you need a new pastor. As sheep in the pastor's "flock", we are to be following him. If he is not a man who should be followed, then he should not be a pastor.

No, "my people" refer to all who claim God and whom God claim's are "my people." - The people of God

America claims to be the people of God. It is on our money "In God we Trust" and nearly 85% claim to believe in God.

The same is true of America. Those that rule the nations have destroyed discipline in the classrooms of American's educational system so that children become their oppressors. Women have rejected the role of raising children and tending to their faimlies but have usurped the role of men trying to rule over them in the home, the work place and in government.

Those that lead our country are guilty of the same thing Isaiah charges Israel with.

God has established a Biblical order (1 Cor. 11:3) among mankind as there is a Biblical order within the very Godhead. Go study the metaphorical use of the term "head" in 1 Cor. 11:3 and ask yourself is the Biblical order in the Godhead something temporary or cultural???????????

I'm not trashing him, but I'm calling this work what it is: absurd.

Not necessarily. From what I've read, he loved God and loved his family the best he knew how.

But the fringes of fundamentalism always need a personality, and he fit the bill.

My friend. Let's becareful on how we apply our hermeneutics. Even if the bible did allow some women to teach men, like Priscilla and Phoebe. Then it is only Priscilla and Phoebe that can teach men.

Actually, that is one of MANY passages of scripture that make it clear that any informed, qualified woman, who has a good scriptural teaching to impart to an audience of people, be they womem, men, or a mix, should by all means be able to impart her wisdom...for the edification of all.

We can't just dismiss the rest of scripture when we think we found a verse or a passage that supports our view.

I agree completely. It is always good to consider the entirety of the scriptures, and not just a few "pet passages" that support what we are comfortable with.
