Way back in the day and I won't go into the problem, because it has long been taken care of... My previous wife and I went in for marital counseling... No it wasn't Christian Counseling, but I told my wife I would go... I was open to the counseling but when the counselor told her after a short time, you are going to have to accept this Man as he is?... "WHAT"... This MAN couldn't accept himself as he is and you are telling her to accept me?... WHAT KIND OF COUNSELING IS THAT?... I took her hand and we walked out the door... At that time I knew nothing about Christian Counseling... I don't believe it was even in my neck of the woods in 1970... I didn't want to bare my soul to someone who didn't understand what I was going through, so I suffered in silence, and prayed to the Lord to deliver me... Yes I was in the church at the time, but their were no resources that I knew of to help me... I know some would say well you could have gone to your pastor?... Or maybe another brother in the church?... Would they have been as understanding as some are now?... Don't know as the shame was overwhelming... You have that opportunity now but this was a different time... Do we now, Confess our faults one to another?... Would another brother or sister look down on you if you did?... I'm speaking plainly and if I ruffle feathers so be it... This is a different time, how do you preacher brethren, know who is suffering in your congregation unless they tell you?... Or those in the congregation, do you know who is hurting and why?... You may see the outside pain but can you see the suffering heart and soul?... Jesus Christ is the ONLY true Counselor I know of and the only one who can help us in our times of need... Isaiah said it true, he is our Wonderful Counselor!... Brother Glen:)
