Just wanted to drop by and give support to my Detroit Tigers. This will be a fun W.S. featuring two teams who have never met in the post-season before, even though they have been in existence for over 100 years.

    What are your predictions?

Mine is Tigers in 5 - with Verlander winning games 1 and 5 and garnering the MVP.

I'm with you Tigers in 5. Verlander is a stud pitcher. I'm a Cards fan and I must remember Verlander wasn't much in the 2006 series, but I think he will fare much better this year.

I would normally root for the National league team but the Giants ticked me off. I watched game 7 for as long as I could stomach my Cardinals blow it when Scoutaro made a real nice play on a sharp grounder in about the 5th inning. Then he started to showboat like we had nothing when he twirled around flapping his arms showing off. That was it for me, I hate show-offs. Even if they are Cardinals. We've had a few over the years.

    GO TIGERS

It will be fun to watch the games without any real interest in who wins. All my teams (Rays, Yankees and Nationals) either lost or never got into it. I'll just enjoy watching.

    Tom,

If it would have been Yanks vs Nats, who would you root for?

Probably the Yankees, but I was born in Washington, DC, so either way I would have been happy.

I love the Nats because they're so young and excitable. Maybe next year and Strausburg (sp) can win game 7.

I was a philly fan until Steve Carlton won 27 games (I think) which ended up being almost 60% of the games the phillies won. Swore them off... then i saw philly fans in other cities and decided I'd rather be porta-potty cleaner than a philly fan.

Detroit's pitching is awfully good, not just Verlander, plus they've got the two big boppers. Tigers in 6.

ROFL or a Jets football fan! My diseased mother, God bless her watched the Yankees religiously until Joe Torre left.....then she told me "thats it" Years before that we were a Mets family. So she announces one day ..."pick another team." Now who am I going to pick who is televised locally? No I did not go Phillies. But I went Tampa Bay Rays--by then she was getting sick from pancreatic cancer anyway.

BTW; is Greg Schiano’s first season as coach of the Bucs worth taking him away from Rutgers? Hmmmm

Yes I remember that fondly ....followed by the '69 Mets
Donn Clendenon was named the series' most valuable player. Jerry Koosman,Cleon Jones, Tom Seaver. Those were my hero's growing up. always winning by the skin of their teeth. As I grew into an old man, I wanted to relive those times & the Tampa Bay Rays kinda does that for me.

Or the year before, 67 those wonderful Cardinals, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, and we should have won in 68..IMO....

So much for Verlander's invincibility...:tear: That Giant crowd was in it from the beginning.

Schiano is doing ok. He's instilled discipline in a team that needed it. He's still trying to act like he's coaching a college team. His call to go full out on the last play of a lost game was pretty silly, but probably made the players know that he thought that every play is important.

    The Jury is still out.

The Rays are the best team in the MLB in developing young players and winning with the low salary scale. They are exciting to watch.

After last night, I change my predction: Giants in 5 (maybe even 4). Tigers showed once again they don't have the mental toughness to be champions. Leyland once again fails to get his team ready for a W.S. In the end, it is probably justice to have the last Detroit championship be the '84 team - that team had guts and grit and mental toughness. This current team is talented but do not have a heart of a champion.

So is this prediction able to be changed if the Tigers win tonight? :tonofbricks:

I think the Tigers will come back. Verlander wasn't sharp at all tonight. That wasn't Leyland's fault.

Loved Bob Gibson! He'd throw a brush back if someone hit a hard foul ball. He was an amazing pitcher

Here's my prediction. With the Tigers being down 0-2, I predict your prediction will eventually fail. They're not out of it.....yet.......but they won't win in five......that's my prediction.......:D :tongue3::wavey::love2:
