    http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct...-hiring-gay-christians-same-sex-marriage.html

World Vision's American branch will no longer require its more than 1,100 employees to restrict their sexual activity to marriage between one man and one woman.

Abstinence outside of marriage remains a rule. But a policy change announced Monday [March 24] will now permit gay Christians in legal same-sex marriages to be employed at one of America's largest Christian charities.

Thank you very much, Shodan, for posting this. I think that it is time for Christians to sever ties with World Vision.

The problem with para-church organizations is that they tend to become rotten over the decades.

Just remember that there are plenty of other, biblical and ethical Christian organizations around the world to support that continue to do good work.

I just got yelled at by someone online (which is always funny) who told me I was abandoning little starving children by criticizing World Vision.

My reply was that I've honestly never sent them money and have usually preferred to support other organizations like: IMB, Cooperative Program, and independent missionaries.

It is a sad decision, but an inevitably one. We should prepare for the moral onslaught from within and from without.

Find it hard to imagine that there are a lot of World Vision supporters on this board - just something to fuss about.

Why do you find it hard to imagine that there are people that sponsor children?

I sponsor a child through Compassion and am actually running our Compassion Sunday at church as well.

Our church is the home church for a large Christian band who works with them so we have had a long standing affiliation with them and sponsoring kids.

We used to sponsor several children through Compassion and have family members that have as well. Seems like a good org overall.

Some in the South may be familiar with Rick and Bubba (radio talk out of Birmingham). They both are solid Christians (I think Bubba attends David Platt's church). They've been huge supporters of World Vision over the past few years. Here is their take if any one is interested.

From the article in the OP:
So, an organization that gets more than 80% of its support from conservative churches, an organization that claims to "defer to churches and denominations on theological issues," is nonetheless choosing to go against those denominations that support it?

I'm hoping someone is going to jump out any second now and shout "April Fool's!"

I struggle to believe they actually think this will unite anyone. I just find it hard to believe they are that naive.

Once early in my Christian walk I befriended a World Vision missionary, supported her and often heard from her and became as close as two people who rarely saw one another could. About seven or eight years ago, she left World Vision, saying she didn't like the atmosphere there anymore. I didn't know what she meant, because she was unwilling to discuss it further. Have lost touch with her since, as she got married, but I'm now wondering if the "atmosphere" was in any way related to, or perhaps led up to, this decision.

Well this is what the political homosexual movement does. They work to take over organizations like this in stealth.

That was very good. I'm sure that it is a hard decision to make but one that is a right one.

Very good. There is a point when you've just got to say enough is enough.

Do these people actually believe what they are saying? By recognizing and legitimizing your employees who are in same sex “marriages” you have just endorsed same-sex marriage. Is that logic so difficult?

The only way you get to this position is to reject a biblical definition of marriage and to believe that society and the “church” (and I use that term loosely) can redefine marriage as they choose.

    Another one bites the dust!

Quite a quandary, we've been supporting a child for quite a while through this ministry.

Matthew Lee Anderson posted some thoughts today on the blog, Mere Orthodoxy [LINK]

    Here's a few excerpts:

Let’s see, first it was Christian Children’s Fund changing its name to Child Fund and then Campus Crusade for Christ changing to cru. Anyone for renaming World Vision to either Worldly Vision or Laodicean Vision?
